Hi Jessica, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Simple. I stopped trying to find it. Instead, I opened up myself to receive it. At first with a prayer: “Please show me who I truly am. What I love and how to share this with the world.”
For years, I kept trying to find it. As if my purpose was a problem to solve; a complex equation. It took me years of trying to find it, and not, to finally understand the following: You can’t think your way into your purpose. Because your true purpose is the highest expression of your soul. And you don’t become the soul within, through the thinking mind.
So I let go. And I allowed it to be revealed to me. Through a daily practice of prayerful intention. Then, honoring where the divine led me, step-by-step, while practicing non-attachment. I began to simply honor what my soul had resonance with, while releasing what felt heavy or weighed me down.
Then overtime, I began to come to know my purpose. And in turn myself.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I help empower women to transform their lives by mastering their own spiritual journey. Primarily those in mainstream corporate leadership roles, but also those who had recently started purpose-driven companies of their own. To help them do what we’re all here to do, which is to awaken, particularly at this time, where the consciousness of humanity is rapidly shifting. The highest level opportunity being to rise above all forms of fear and limitation and begin the long-held promise of transcending the ego. Easy stuff ;-).
Today this purpose takes a few forms. Primarily via the Women’s Purpose Community (WPC), which is a spiritual and personal growth community for high-powered women. Those who know that through focusing on their healing, including taking ownership for their path and consciousness expansion, they serve the greater good. I also speak to audiences at corporate events and conferences and regularly provide content on my Instagram and YouTube channels. As well as through my podcast Soul Purpose, as part of the MIndBodySpirt.fm network.
What I’m most excited about in 2024 is to start work on my next book, with is about the awakening of humanity, currently underway. I’m excited to share more about my personal experience with this profound shift that’s currently underway for us all.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1) Believing My Heart More than the Fear in My Mind. This is the absolute key to living your soul purpose. Because the more you step into your soul calling — or even consider pursuing a dream — the louder the voice of fear in your mind (ego) gets. There’s an acronym for fear: False Evidence Appearing Real. The key to my journey has been not believing the voice of fear in my mind, no matter what. Meaning, taking no action, based on where it was guiding me. Instead, trusting and listening to my heart. Knowing that my heart (soul) is the key to unlocking purpose.
2) Not Giving Up. Sometimes that voice of fear was so loud, I wanted to give up, and almost did. In these moments, I held onto faith, no matter how small, and just kept going. This was probably the hardest part of my journey. Trust is very hard for me. Trust in myself, my path, in the Universe. And honestly, I don’t think it was me that held on and didn’t give up. I think at the moments when we really need a kernel of faith to kept moving towards our destiny, God steps in.
3) Knowing Pain is the Portal. I believe pain is the portal to awakening. It’s unpleasant, but suffering is where we grow. Very much an energetic push that helps us to have powerful “ahas” which ascend us forward on our path. Knowing this, helped me to stop resisting hard lessons. Instead, show up fully to learn what I needed to, in order to embrace my path more fully.
The primary advice I have is that the soul purpose journey has a way of revealing the life lessons that are unique to you. When you have awareness of this, you can approach any hard times, as tests. Versus accounting for hardship as a reason to cease moving forward or that your dream isn’t possible. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
I’ve had to unlearn two, closely related lessons: 1) It’s all up to me and 2) Hard work is THE WAY.
I spent the first 40 years of my life believing at some level, that I could only rely upon and trust myself. I’ve always been fiercely independent and not one to ask for help. I was living under the illusion that everything I had achieved was because of “me.” Giving little credit to spirit.
On top of this, I believed the success I had, was in part, due to working hard. And that hard work was the only way to “get things done.” And in truth, hard work has been the primary way to achieve in the lower level collective consciousness that we’ve been living.
When I decided to start my business two things happened simultaneously that required me to unlearn both these lessons. First, I was creating a true soul purpose business for the first time ever. Meaning, I was creating from a place deep in my heart. Trying to make a soul-level dream come true. Which is a completely different space to create and manifest from. Second, I was creating (and still am) this business during a time where the consciousness of the reality we’ve been living for thousands of years is shifting, drastically. Creating while living in a time of “higher frequencies” has meant the old ways of doing, no longer work.
What I’ve found is that when it comes to creating during these times of shifting into a higher energetic consciousness, the more I let go, the more that “actually happens.” Especially given that my business concept is truly from my soul-self; not an ego-based creation. If it was the later, the old ways of doing — including being in a constant state of doing — might still work.
Instead, when I try to “push through” or “make things happen,” it actually has a negative result. Compared to my years working in a corporate environment where these types of tactics worked just fine and produced exceptional results. However, the energies are becoming longer supportive to this. And it will only increase.
Moreover, when I take any action that is anchored to a mindset of “it’s me” doing this, I have also experienced negative results. Net net, I’ve found that being on a soul purpose journey, especially during these awakening times, requires a drastically different approach to “doing” compared with the one we’ve long known.
Here are two ways I’ve had to unlearn these lessons while building my business:
– Prioritizing Rest over Doing. I used to make lists of various tasks required to get things done and power through them whether or not I felt like it. I put in hours of hard work each day and felt accomplished in this. Productive. Now, I find that if I’m doing from a place of depletion whatsoever, it not only feels like I’m trudging through mud. But my wheels are just spinning in it, going nowhere. If instead, I wait until I feel inspired, energized and joyful about taking action. I see like a 10x, for a very small amount of effort.
– Doorstep Manifesting. We used to manifest by visualizing what we want, followed up with plans and actions. What’s shifting for me and has resulted in more unlearning is what I call doorstep manifesting. You visualize….and it comes. Again, requiring less “traditional doing.” You SEE what you want to achieve and simply attract it to YOU. The lessons connecting to this are learning to PATIENTLY wait; while not being in the energy of waiting. Sometimes it’s truly opportunity that comes knocking and other times it’s waiting (patiently) for the steps to reveal themselves, one-at-a-time. But it’s no longer being in constant motion towards your vision in terms of physical action taking. Think divine flow on steroids.
