Jessica, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Throughout my life I’ve been in some pretty bad situations that forced me to be strong and those times really molded me to who I am now.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a professional makeup artist and hair stylist.
In high-school I did Cosmetology as an elective not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. As the time went on I really fell in love with the beauty of transforming my clients and seeing them fall in love with themselves.
Being able to give others a boost of confidence is the best superpower.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Patience, communication and pure ambition.
Success does not happen overnight. Patience is a skill that’s really necessary in any aspect of life and I think sometimes it’s okay to take a step back and breathe to regain focus.
Communication is important in any relationship. Whether it’s a client, family member, coworker or any one else, it is an important skill to learn proper communication in order to succeed.
Lastly ambition is not something I think one can develop if it isn’t there. You have to want something so much that you accept it – the pros, the cons and the process to get there. You have to be so determined that you won’t be easily derailed.
