Meet Jessica N. Sauls

We recently connected with Jessica N. Sauls and have shared our conversation below.

Jessica N. , we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hops that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
Everyday we have a choice. We can get up and take the world on or we can roll over and tuck our tail between our legs. I have faced lots of obstacles and have chosen both of them at one point or another. I found that rolling over only felt heavier over time and just didn’t feel good. I myself don’t want to feel bad and make a daily choice to wake up and take the world on. It’ is much easier to move forward when you don’t have baggage holding you back. You mistake your mental health a priority. You have to choose you.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an artist at heart. At a young age I began creating and through the years I understood I was a server. I love to help people and love making them feel beautiful. After years in the hospitality business I took a leap of faith and went back to school and received my Master in Cosmetology. With in the first year I took another leap of faith and opened my now Award winning salon. With in the first year of opening my person life turned upside down, My mother fell sick and passed away shortly after. A few years after that I decided to write my first book and am now a published writer. I felt that with all the pain in this world if I could find a way in helping people who were hurting I had to find a way. I am almost finished with my Masters to become a Life Coach for Mental Health.

In my business I see a-lot of people and if there is a way that I can help, that is what I will do.

I love my salon and would not trade it for anything. I just felt that If I have the right training I could help out in a more positive way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Definitely being a people person, being creative and work ethic. I honestly think that people are born with these skills. Being a people’s person can take time. Just be yourself and be genuine. Creativity is a gift, it just comes easy to me.
If you want something you have to work for it. It won’t just come to you. You have to work hard.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Finding good help. It’s really a challenge. I am going to just keep looking and have faith that it will all fall into place.
