Meet Jessica Poole

We were lucky to catch up with Jessica Poole recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jessica, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I would say that my resilience primarily comes from my drive to do my best for my family. I never want them to look at me and think that I did not do my best or that I gave up on something I am passionate about. I can be stubborn by nature which I feel only adds to my resilience, it makes me want to accomplish anything I put my mind to. I have had some unfortunate health issues arise over the last few years which has only pushed me to prove to myself and my kids that no matter the circumstance if you truly believe in yourself anything can be achieved. If I am ever struggling and need a little push I give myself pep talks, write out a plan of action and talk out my goals with my husband and get the job done. Resilience isn’t just something you’re born with, it can be cultivated and it can change over time.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an Event Curator aka Event Planner and a Content Creator. Since I last spoke with a Voyage editor in 2022 I have fully jumped into the event & digital service free lance space. I absolutely love working with other business owners and brands. Creating fun experiences and amazing memories for others is one of the biggest rewards with working in events. I am able to express my creativity in my work daily and I couldn’t love what I do more. I have met so many amazing people along the way and it has continued to inspire me in my work. I am currently working with an amazing med spa as their Brand Operations Manager which includes maintaining their social media presence and I have also just signed on to work with an upcoming San Antonio Festival so stay on the lookout for updates on that!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say authenticity is definitely one of them. Staying true to yourself, not falling victim to imposter syndrome is huge for your sanity and as long as you’re being your authentic self things will align for you. Confidence is up there with the list of important qualities. If you don’t believe in yourself how could you expect anyone else to? Knowledge more specifically Industry Knowledge for my fellow content creation/digital marketing business owners. Pay attention to trends, scope out your competition. Know your brand, your clients brand and make sure you are being intentional with the content you are putting out there.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for other like minded individuals or new businesses to collaborate with! This year I am hoping to collaborate on something benefiting a meaningful cause. I am also hoping to collaborate on a larger scale event wise. As I mentioned before I have an upcoming festival I will be a part of but definitely more events of that calibur are the goal. Whoever I collaborate with, I know we will have a great time!
