Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jiling Lin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jiling, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I write before dawn while sipping tea. I keep watercolors, crayons, and other creative tools laid out in easily accessible places to make art, along with my tank drum and piano for making music. By creating space, reflecting with seasonal rhythms, playing, and opening to wonder, these everyday rituals help keep my creative spark alive.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My website “About” page tells my story!
Jiling Lin is a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac) and herbalist who cultivates thriving health through nature, art, movement, and ritual. Her gentle yet powerful acupuncture and herbal treatments center accessible lifestyle medicine solutions for lasting transformation.

She teaches a range of classes and retreats, collaborating with the Esalen Institute, Balanced Rock Foundation, HerbRally, and other organizations across North America and Asia.
After breaking both wrists in a major mountaineering accident in 2006, acupuncture, yoga, and herbs helped restore Jiling’s mobility, stability, flexibility, and strength. She now supports other injured athletes through recovery, with firsthand experience from her personal healing journey— and continues to be an avid hiker, backpacker, and surfer.
Jiling holds a Bachelor’s of Art in Studio Art, Master’s of Science in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine, and is certified as an InterPlay Leader, Morning Altars Teacher, and 500-hour Yoga Teacher. Through Earth-centered integrative medicine and experiential education, Jiling helps reconnect humans with the wild beauty of our inner and outer landscapes— thereby empowering radiant health and environmental stewardship in our bodies, communities, and world.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Nature, Art, Movement & Ritual
Follow the Golden Thread! Your Heart will guide the way. Enjoy the adventure. Trust. Open to the world. Ask for help. Listen deeply. Spend time in nature. Play with art. Rest into the spaces between the notes. Delight in both harmony and disharmony. Create the world you wish to live in. Spend time on what matters most. Recommit to your values. Family. Friends. Planet Earth.
NATURE: Connect with diverse people, plants, and places to better understand your personal nature, gifts, and challenges. Outdoor adventures can expand you in all directions.
ART & MOVEMENT: Explore creative multimedia, including somatic embodiment, music, visual arts, and writing.
RITUAL: Align with seasonal rhythms for joy, ease, and ongoing wonder.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
BOOK
I am writing my first book right now! And experimenting with new ways of journaling, art-making, and writing to keep the spark alive. If you are also a writer, or have fresh ideas for dancing with the Muse, then please reach out!
RETREATS
I am open to fresh retreat collaborations in new locations, with new teaching partners. I am particularly interested in working with fellow BIPOC at the intersections of nature, art, movement, and ritual.
ARTIST RESIDENCIES
In book-writing, I am seeking artist residencies for 2024, and beyond. Your suggestions are welcome!
IDEAS
If you have other ideas for collaboration, then please reach out! Thank you.
