We were lucky to catch up with Jisun Lee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jisun, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I developed my confidence and self-esteem through over 10 years in the industry. Knowing the time and effort I’ve invested in my work allows it to speak for itself. My experiences have shown me how crucial resilience is and how valuable it is to always strive for improvement. Every project, regardless of its difficulty, has helped me grow and strengthened my belief in my skills. When you trust in the quality of your work, it gives you a solid foundation and the motivation to keep progressing. Believing in the quality and impact of your work ensures that you stay focused and motivated, no matter the obstacles.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve been navigating the fashion scene as an art director and photographer for more than ten years. The finest aspect? I get to combine storytelling with creativity. Fashion, in my opinion, is about expressing identity and culture more than it is about clothing. There’s a fresh tale waiting to be told on every shoot I do.
The combination of fine art, film, and commercial photography is what sets my work apart. This combination gives my creations a unique feel. My expertise in fine art helps me pay attention to the little details and aesthetics, and my background in business makes sure that everything is polished and ready for the market.
My fascination in architecture has been influencing my work a lot lately. The way that locations influence the tone and plot of a shoot intrigues me. I’m using the places I adore more and even attempt to employ 3D rendering to create my own environments. With this method, I can create the ideal setting for every project, giving my storytelling even more depth.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In retrospect, respect, teamwork, and dependability have been three essential qualities that have greatly influenced my path.
Respect is essential in every creative field. treating your coworkers with respect as well as your craft is fundamental. A pleasant and productive atmosphere is fostered by respect for the opinions and contributions of others. For newbies, I would advise them to cherish the opinions of their team and to constantly listen to them. Long-lasting professional relationships can be cultivated and doors opened by respect.
Throughout my career, teamwork has been vital. Combining the knowledge and skills of various team members results in some of the best projects. Look for opportunities to collaborate with others on little or large-scale projects in order to get better at this area. Accept collaboration and maintain an open mind.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I’m always looking for brands and agencies to collaborate with on interesting projects. Additionally, I would like to work with publications that are dedicated to presenting innovative and visually striking content. If you value creativity, narrative, and a unique visual style, I would love to connect with you.
