Meet Joe and Hannah French

We were lucky to catch up with Joe and Hannah French recently and have shared our conversation below.

Joe and Hannah, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Both of us started camping at a very young age. Our basis for our camping knowledge came from our parents. Gradually we honed our skills and became successful campers on our own (without our parents). Once we grew up and found each other many of our activities involved camping together. We noticed that a lot of camping these days isn’t true classic tent camping and we wanted to help keep the art alive. We live right near Zion National Park and knew that it is the perfect spot for people to tent camp whether it be first timers or skilled veterans. People come from all over the world to visit ZNP and it can be difficult to travel, especially on a plane, with all the equipment needed. So we decided to create a company to provide people with everything needed to have a successful and fun camping experience!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
People come from all over the world to see Zion National Park. It is hard to travel with everything needed to camp, and very expensive to buy all the equipment. We provide everything needed to really get outside and sleep out in nature comfortably. Our guests can choose between our setup packages, to-go packages, backpacking gear, and/or camp kitchen equipment. When someone chooses our setup package we set up all the equipment at their booked campsite so that it is ready for them to start camping as soon as they arrive (the campsite must be booked with a local campground separately). If our guests choose to book our to-go package then they pick it up and take it with them during their travels in Zion and the surrounding area.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Our love of the outdoors started when we were young and grew with us as we got older. As kids our parents pushed us to spend time outside playing. Now we chose to be outside for nature, peace, fresh air, amazing views and yes, we still play! Our sense of adventure still drives us to check out new places and try new things. Pushing through and overcoming fears plays a huge part in doing outdoor activities as well as growing a business. We couldn’t do either of those things if we let our fears take over. So we recommend you give it a try – Get outside and camp! Do fun stuff, check out the surrounding nature, look at the stars and breathe fresh air. If there is something you don’t like then don’t give up, just make adjustments and try again. If you’re scared just bring your family or closest friends and be scared together!

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Our ideal client is anyone who wants to go camping! We welcome people who are young or old and any age in between. Our clients can be first time campers or the most experienced. Even if they already own camping equipment it can be expensive and inconvenient to travel with everything. What we are trying to say is that anyone and everyone is the perfect client and welcomed by us any time!
