Meet Joe Parrello

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joe Parrello. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joe below.

Hi Joe, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Growing up my family moved several times. As a matter of fact I went to 4 different school districts by the time I was 12. Constantly being the new kid wasnt always fun but it developed certain characteristics in me that shaped who I am today. I remember one time specifically I was in 6th grade and my parents moved from NY to Florida in the middle of the school year. My first day in the cafeteria with my lunch tray in hand I looked around for kids thatI thought I could relate to and walked over to their table, introduced myself and sat down. It takes a certain level of self esteem and confidence to do that.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Im 46 years old old, married to my HS sweetheart, have 3 amazing kids (19,17,14), am a 19 year Police Officer and own both a DJ company and a Nutrition Store. I was inspired to become a Police Officer after the tragic events of 9/11. Before that I was a personal trainer and a party motivator dancing at Bar Mitzvahs. After several years in the industry I was given the opportunity to start hosting events as a Master of Ceremonies in NYC. Being in front of Hundreds of people on a mic is not easy but its where I developed a passion to serve. Over the next few years I created a name for myself and was given the nickname “Joe Nyce”. After becoming one of the most sought out MC’s in the industry and helping buid the company I was working for I decided to go out on my own & start my own business in 2015. Nyce Productions was born and thriving today specializing in Event Production. From Talent, LED walls, Lighting, Games & furniture, we provide our customers with an unforgettable experience that their family will never forget.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back I’d say the things that helped me the most along my journey have been Hard work, reliability & going the extra mile. Nothing can substitute the hard work it takes to become successful. I think reliability is really lacking in todays world. In my business I sign contracts with clients 2 years in advance. Knowing where you have to be on 9.17.26 takes a certain type of person and most people arent relaible enough to come through. Finally, if you do more than youre paid for, you will laways be paid for more than what you do. It’s a hard concept for people to understand because most people have the “that’s not my job” mentality. Ive always gone above and beyond and have been rewarded for it.
