Meet John Jigg$

We were lucky to catch up with John Jigg$ recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have John with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic mainly comes from my upbringing. I watched my mother work two and three jobs to take care of me by herself. She never really did much complaining, she just made it happen. I apply this same mindset to the music business and any other goals that I have in my life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an internationally known hip-hop artist. Having been involved in the music industry for a little over 10 years I’ve have had the pleasure of working with the likes of Parish Smith of EPMD, Benny the Butcher, Ras Kass, Streetrunner, and Ez Elpee among many others.

I have also been blessed to have headlined as well as being featured on several international and international concert tours. This is the most exciting part of my journey. Hip-hop has taken me places I never thought I would be able to see and has continued to give me long-lasting memories and relationships.

On the horizon, I have the release of both my solo project “Jigganometry 2” and a joint album “Don’t Feed The Bears” with the legendary, Shabaam Sahdeeq. These will also include additional tour dates, Limited merch releases, and several media appearances. Follow me on IG @john_jiggs for all updates.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say the initial attribute that got me to where I am today would be my love for music. I would credit my older siblings and my mother for exposing me to so many different sounds as a child.

Next would come the resilience it takes one to survive in this industry. The music industry is not for the faint of heart. There are setbacks, roadblocks and real life situations that can easily deter you from your path, so the ability to focus on the ultimate goal is key.

Lastly would be a keen business sense, which I’ve developed through trial and error in addition to the tutelage from my mentor the late, great Grand Daddy IU

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I would have to say that my beautiful wife of 9 years Mrs. Victoria Stanton has been my biggest proponent, a significant role player in the success I’ve been able to obtain up to this point.
