Meet Jonathan Beres

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jonathan Beres. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jonathan, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
My self care takes many forms including little weekend vacations, relaxing and unwinding on the couch, and simply just doing whatever it is I feel like in that moment. One large misconception is that successful people are always on the run and never do anything for themselves. I think that’s false. The most successful people I know make it known that in order to be effective, productive and successful, you must put yourself first. Check in with yourself and make sure that you are taken care of. I tell my team to take their moment of zen every day. Whatever that is, whatever brings them peace.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve taken the time to develop a candle company that does so much more than make great fragrances. Over the past few years, my company, the Sabal Collection, has put countless hours into reaserch and brand improvements to develop a candle that puts our customers and their wellbeing first. We have collaborated with other companies to make sure that we are always making our candles from the highest quality supplies while ensuring our candles remain vegan & non- toxic. When our suppliers do not have the same mentality as us, we cut them out. We recently had to change our primary manufacturer over this issue and we are currently working with a great fragrance curator from California to relaunch our company in Fall of 2024. We have so many customers who have been patiently awaiting our next collection and we are so excited for this new partnership.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1) a tenacious spirit: without the drive and determination to get something accomplished and to achieve more, you will always remain stagnant. If you want something more, something better, then you must have the will and drive to make it a reality. It will be hard, there will be set backs. But if you give up, it certainly won’t happen. Continue to drive and find ways around obstacles and you will eventually reach your goal. It is important to change your mindset from “this is getting hard, I can’t do it” to “this is getting hard, how can I make it easier”. 2) Accountability: it’s so easy to pass the blame on to someone else but you can not change them. The only person you have full control over is yourself. It is important to take accountability and, rather than say “this person needs to do this or this person should have done that”, find out what you can do to make the situation better.
3) Positivity: positivity is contagious. And so is negativity. Make sure to spread positivity. Always look at the bright side. Think about it like this: people need light in their lives. Light can affect our moods and overall health. Be the light for someone. Be the one people want to be around because you are always positive, looking at the bright side and overall, you are the light. It will attract people in your life and people will be more likely to trust you, both in business and in your personal life.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
The Sabal Collection, a brand dedicated to prioritizing our customers and championing values, is looking to collaborate. We seek partners who share our commitment to vegan, non-toxic, and clean fragrance products, embracing diversity and quality ingredients. We are a LGBTQ+ owned company looking for you to join us in redefining the essence of a company – one that transcends sales to deliver excellence.
