Meet Jorgie Franks

We were lucky to catch up with Jorgie Franks recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jorgie , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
Generosity comes from my relationship with God. Give and it will come back to you. Sow a seed and it will grow. Being raised by a pastor and his wife instilled generosity. Watching my parents walk through life with faith and kindness to people is where it all comes from. The fact is you are a leader whether you like it or not. My generosity comes from my parents love for one another and the generosity they lend to one another forgiving each other, being there for each other and that is the foundation of my generosity.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a church girl who grew up with a passion for spreading the message of Jesus. From the age of 8, I started knocking on doors and sharing my faith with people. As I got older, around 15, I began working at KFC and a watch store in the mall, where I discovered my gift for persuasion, oratory skills, and connecting with others.

For the past 30 years, I have been involved in sales and business development, constantly learning and honing my skills in various types of sales. However, everything changed in 2020 when the pandemic hit and the tragic death of George Floyd occurred. It was during that year that I realized I wanted to make a bigger difference in the world, focusing on impacting others rather than seeking personal recognition.

Recently, I was honored with the title of honorary mayor of Brandon. While this title is honorary, I am using it as a platform to create significant change and inspire others. I have developed a strong new program aimed at creating a call to action, an invitation to embrace our creativity and envision a better world. With our collective imagination, the ability to bring forth new ideas and possibilities, and the determination to turn those ideas into reality, we hold the keys to transformation. Through my voice and actions, I strive to help others and make Christ known, emphasizing the importance of making a positive impact on the world.

Additionally, I would like to share that I have some exciting upcoming events and initiatives in the pipeline. We are planning product/service launches, expansion opportunities, and hosting events that will provide a platform for people to come together, share their stories, and find inspiration. These endeavors will serve as catalysts for positive change and personal growth, allowing individuals to unleash their potential and contribute to making the world a better place.

Thank you for allowing me to share my story and passion. I am driven by the desire to make a difference and create lasting impact, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey, I believe there were three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that had the most significant impact:

Knowing Christ and living life with peace, love, and being known by God: This spiritual foundation provided me with guidance, purpose, and a sense of peace throughout my journey. My advice to those starting their journey is to seek a deep understanding of their own beliefs, values, and spirituality. Cultivate a relationship with a higher power or a sense of purpose that will provide strength and direction in times of challenge and uncertainty.

Emotional intelligence and self-awareness: Developing emotional intelligence allowed me to navigate relationships and interactions with others effectively. Being self-aware and practicing self-love while also remaining open to growth and improvement is essential. I encourage individuals early in their journey to invest time in understanding their emotions, strengths, and weaknesses. This knowledge will enable them to build healthier relationships, communicate effectively, and adapt to different situations.

Learning from mistakes and building resilience: Making mistakes is inevitable in any journey, but the key lies in learning from them and developing resilience. Embrace failures as valuable learning opportunities and use them as stepping stones toward growth. It’s crucial to view setbacks as temporary and keep pushing forward, remaining resilient in the face of challenges.

For those who are early in their business ventures, my advice is to recognize their areas of expertise and seek help from professionals in areas where they lack expertise. Hiring experts or seeking mentorship in fields such as finance, marketing, or operations can provide valuable guidance and support. Surrounding yourself with knowledgeable individuals who can offer advice and expertise will help you make informed decisions and avoid common pitfalls.

In summary, prioritize your spiritual foundation, cultivate emotional intelligence, and develop resilience through learning from mistakes. Additionally, seek help from experts in areas where you lack expertise to ensure a well-rounded approach to your journey. By focusing on these qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge, you will be better equipped to navigate challenges and achieve success in your endeavors.
