Meet Joseph Yosko

We were lucky to catch up with Joseph Yosko recently and have shared our conversation below.

Joseph, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Well at 16 when my parents asked me why I was rapping I told him it was my therapy and counseling and the way I prevent from getting in fights and getting in trouble. First thing they tell me is never give up you’re never going to get signed and you’re never going to become famous. So that’s where it comes from on my logo I will never give up it was never about being signed or being famous it was about my therapy and counseling.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My brand stands for always being real and never giving up even when you’re against the odds. July 28th 2012 I was involved in a serious car accident where I died twice, suffered to brain injury, and have my femur bone in my right leg broken in the 30 pieces I was told I was never going to walk again and if I did I’d walk with a severe limp. Well I’m fine hard work and dedication pays off and never let someone tell you what you’re going to do show them what you could do cuz if I would have accepted that I would have been in a wheelchair. My brand is also I label myself as THE #REALLIFEROCKY🥊🥊🥊
The reason for that is I’m from the suburbs of Philadelphia, I will fight and do anything that I have to do to become champion, and the odds always been stacked against me and I will stand up for the little guy always.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Main thing is your lyrical talent AKA with the stories about or your music’s about, and sound production I have the best appealing product to the ear that is the best thing for music. And just keep trying to get better I’ve been rapping for 24 years into this day I try to improve every song I write. And rule number one never think you’re the best because how can you say you’re the best or be the best if you haven’t reached your full potential yet.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
Always stick to know what you know best but always try to improve and become more versatile. Try to have every type of song for every type of mood and situation. And while sticking to what you’re strong at like me I’m a good storytelling rapper just maintain your brand image and your lyrical ability that you’ve went with that your fans became attached to.
