Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joslyn Rose Lyons. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joslyn Rose, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Growing up in Oakland and the Bay Area in general, is where my resilience comes from. It’s the rose that grows from concrete. Learning how to find my purpose and my path amidst all of the obstacles, is one of the main factors that helped shape me into the director and artist that I am today. There is a process of alchemy that needs to be present when we want to pursue our dreams. That fire what helps us persevere and we need it in order to sustain the success.. When we feel that resistance ,show up, while we might want to fold, it is those moments that we must keep going, to cross the thresholds. That is where my resilience comes from. Facing the shadows the find the light and continue to move, grow, and evolve

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Perseverance, patience, and staying true to yourself is key. Seeking the light. staying grounded, and finding gratitude in the face of challenges. My advice for anyone on the path to pursuing their dreams is to go inwards whenever fear or doubt arises, and trusting your inner knowing to guide you. It’s not always clear, but as long as you put one foot in front of the other and just keep going forward, you are on the right path.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
‘The Alchemist” is definitely on the top of my list, and another book called ‘The Big Leap’ which explores the concept of taking that courageous leap from your ‘excellence zone’ to your ‘genius zone’. That book has had a huge impact on my creative journey, allowing me to see the process through a broader perspective.
