Meet Juliet Agocha

We were lucky to catch up with Juliet Agocha recently and have shared our conversation below.

Juliet, thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

Thank you for the amazing work you all do and for having me. Well… I am glad you said, “folks who are doing something unique,” which means unique people embrace positive change. Naysayers are people who don’t like positive change, so they criticize. Despite the haters and naysayers that follow my glorious light, I managed to persist by understanding that success makes so many people hate you. Simply be useless if you want to win everyone’s favor. Haha! Some people are just negative, judgmental, and unsupportive. Staying motivated in the face of criticism or discouragement is a skill that I have mastered, and any individual striving to make a positive impact needs to master it. I can say with certainty that successful people don’t waste time nitpicking about unsuccessful people. The fact that you can find the time to criticize me demonstrates how miserable, hopeless, and unfulfilling your life must be. For the life of me, I can’t help you (smiles). We have over 7 billion amazing people on Earth, so why worry about haters and naysayers? (smiles!)

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am an entrepreneur, mentor, and inspirational speaker. I own businesses, and I help men and women achieve personal/professional goals and overcome daily life challenges. Through my inspirational words, I help individuals own their inherent greatness. I use inspiration to inspire people around me to tap fully into their potential. I encourage people to practice gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for positive change, but many don’t know about it. In addition, I am the author of the inspirational book: “7 Ways to Overcome Fear.” And my new book is coming out soon. I have been working my gut out lately. I help people confront their fears, overcome obstacles, and build resilience. Overcoming challenges and setbacks requires a positive attitude, as well as dedication and commitment. That’s where I come in.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three most important qualities I would encourage people to develop are confidence, consistency, and integrity. I call it my C.C.I. secret. Having self-confidence is critical to personal growth and development. It helps individuals believe in their abilities and potential to succeed in life. You have to believe in yourself before others believe in you.

Secondly, consistency is a must-have skill for success. Consistency involves committing to your goals and focusing on the items and activities required to attain them. Our Heavenly Father expects us, His children, to exhibit constancy in our faith, service, and witness because He is dependable, consistent, and trustworthy in everything He does. The scripture says in Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. That’s consistency. In Titus 2:7, the scripture says to show ourselves in all respects to be a model of good works. To show good work, we must be consistent with our craft.

Lastly, integrity is a crucial aspect of one’s character. Being honest and having strong moral principles is critical. I always tell people that if you lie to yourself, you’ll be unable to perceive your genuine circumstance for what it is. Be honest, be real, and be yourself. Fake life is expensive, but honesty is free and readily accessible. Being real is what keeps me humble. It doesn’t matter how much money I make or how much I accomplish. What’s critical is staying real to myself and keeping my feet on the ground. That’s what helps keep me going.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Let’s be real, there are times in life when you’ll feel overwhelmed. We all feel overwhelmed, nervous, or pressured at times, whether it’s due to job, school, social commitments, or just life in general. When you have these feelings, it’s crucial to allow yourself grace. My advice to anyone feeling overwhelmed is to take life one step at a time.

The first step in overcoming this is to identify why you are overwhelmed. Just as you can’t give what you don’t have, you can’t solve what you don’t know. Identifying the underlying cause is a crucial first step in conquering any challenge. Ask yourself this question: What’s stressing you out right now? School, bills, children, relationships, health, political issues, business, etc.? Then, reflect on the “why.” Why are you overwhelmed? Once you can identify the “why,” you’re very close to solving the problem. My subsequent advice is to be kind to yourself. Remember that feeling overwhelmed is normal, especially now. It’s also important to understand that feeling overwhelmed does not have to last. Give yourself some grace; if you don’t get to that chore or need to request an extension at work, you can. Your mental health should be the top priority.
