Meet Justice Naccarato

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Justice Naccarato a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Justice, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
When I was 22 years old, I started to have horrible symptoms of irregular and heavy periods to rapid weight gain, migraines, anxiety, and depression. I went to the doctor, who told me, without even really examining me, that I had an STD and gave me a shot of an antibiotic for something that I didn’t have and that the doctor didn’t even VERIFY that I had. I almost lost my job due to the severe pain and other symptoms that I was experiencing. It took me 8 years, countless doctor’s appointments, near death experiences, and a trip to the ER to get my diagnosis of endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

The average time it takes a woman to get a diagnosis from the time that her symptoms start is 9.28 years. That is a travesty for women who are suffering and need help.

Even after you get the diagnosis, the education and the treatment options are slim to none. How is this acceptable? It isn’t, and I certainly experienced for myself how frustrating and almost inhumane it is to go from doctor to doctor without any real help or diagnosis, or to not be listened to and to be dismissed. Then, no one really talks about the emotional toll that chronic health issues can take on a person. That isolation heightens the risk of developing other conditions like depression and anxiety, which are very real side effects of these conditions.

I decided, after my own experience with struggling to find a diagnosis, that I never wanted other women to feel as alone, helpless, and scared as I did. Awareness and education are key to self-advocacy, and I wanted to be a conduit of information, of guidance, and of support for women who think that they’re crazy because no one is listening to them. Even if I can’t figure out what’s wrong with you, I will do research and find fellow-minded practitioners to help you find your answers, because I believe that everyone has the right to be heard, truly heard, and they need to know that they are not just the sum of their symptoms. There is hope.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Natural Healthcare Practitioner who specializes in Trauma Informed Care, Health Education, Hormone Balance for Men & Women, Endometriosis & PCOS, Menstrual Issues/Discomforts, and so much more. My own health journey & dedication to honest personalized health has been the driving force behind my practice and teaching methods. I was once caught in a chain of frustrating doctors appointments, unclear or unverified diagnoses that had nothing to do with what I was experiencing, and I thought, like so many of my patients have thought, that I was going crazy. I want my patients to know that they are not crazy. I have made it my goal to provide natural, open communicative choices for my clients, to give them the tools that they need to take charge of their health.

I am also the CEO of SeraVita Supplements. SeraVita Supplements are research-based formulas combining nature’s finest herbs & extractions, bringing you the best support for your body & mind to reach optimal wellness. At SeraVita, we approach health with a holistic perspective, looking to support the entire body and mind. We all need a little support, to help optimize your healing naturally, we use formulated, research-based supplements ranging from high-quality multivitamins, proteolytic enzymes, antioxidants, amino acids, herbs, and more.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Desperation followed by determination. I know this one sounds crazy! Hear me out: I was so miserable and so eager for answers that it propelled me into an entirely different mindset. I was determined that there were solutions, and I was desperate to find them. My life quite literally depended on my determination to find the right answers for my situation. I’m so grateful to have been able to move on from the desperation part of my journey, and now I use that experience to support others when they hit a time of desperation in their life. Research skills got me started. At first, I had no plans to go back to school. I was fortunate enough to have grown up with parents who loved research, so I already had that skill to fall back on. I started my research with the sole purpose of helping myself. The more I researched, however, the more I realized that I had to keep going. There was an endless chasm of data and health challenge puzzle pieces, and I love a good puzzle. Medicine and holistic healing became the ultimate puzzle for me, with clients bringing me new enigmas to solve every day.
Gaining a better understanding of the intricacies of how the body functions changed my life forever. While there is so much we still do not know about the human body, what we do know is fascinating and understanding even just a fraction of it improved my life exponentially.
For those who are early in their journey, the best advice I can give is to pace yourself, and give yourself a lot of grace. It’s really easy to get overwhelmed with all the information and things to do and discouraged when it doesn’t go the way you had hoped. At first, it can often feel like drinking water from a fire hose, so find someone who can help you through at least the first part. As you heal you need different things, and that can also mean practitioners sometimes. The practitioners that I started with are not all the ones that I am still working with, but that doesn’t mean that the ones I worked with before did not help me; it just means that I needed different things at some point. Don’t be afraid to pivot when you need to. Finally, find ways to laugh and have fun. I know that can be a tall order when you’re fighting for your life, however I have discovered that people who prioritize fun and laughing (even just a few minutes per day) have a tendency to heal more quickly. And, here’s the thing: you can fake it! Even fake laughing has benefits, so fake it ‘til you make it!
