Meet Justin Williams

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Justin Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Justin below.

Justin, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Determination to succeed and, some would argue, raw stubbornness. Handling high-stress environments was a gift I was given, and I never quite realized it. As a founder and a business owner, the secret sauce is being able to endure that time and time again.

These days, I rely on my wonderful family and friends. They provide a safe place to land or a quiet place to decompress, and I’m eternally grateful for that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Most of my time is spent scaling the stained glass studio I own with the artist and my wife, Jordan Williams. Little Glass Art offers fun classes for the masses, uniquely yours commissioned artwork, stained glass restoration, and repair. Over the last decade, we’ve been fortunate to grow the business from just us to a team of five incredible individuals who have made the dream come alive.

In 2023, over 3,000 amazing individuals attended our classes. To each of you, we are grateful for your part in making our dream a reality. We continue to experience growth from our loyal students and clients. In 2024, we face two major milestones. We aim to acquire our own building, which will establish roots for many years to come and to explore and develop strategic plans to expand the class aspect of our business to a new large metro in the United States.

Aside from my for-profit pursuits, giving back holds a special place in my heart. I found my niche by making my voice heard and providing knowledge, expertise, and information about transitioning energy to more renewable sources in a socially and economically viable way. For the past four years, I’ve co-hosted a podcast aimed at doing just that. I also contribute to the landscape as a board member of the Colorado NARO chapter. I believe showing compassion for and addressing the concerns of both sides of the aisle is the only path forward for us all.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Take the risk, do the thing, and just say yes. Don’t be afraid to fail; invite failure like a well-known friend you’re quick to send home. You’ll find success by picking yourself up and trying again.

No idea is crazy, but some are crazy hard to sell. When those outside say you’re crazy and your gut tells you’re a genius, you can only find who was right by pushing it to the end. Remain open to feedback and aware of the facts, but never give up just because a few people called you crazy.

Practice compassion in all you do—compassionate business and compassionate interaction. Be a good human! Money, fame, and success are all fantastic, but if you can’t stand who you see in the mirror, you haven’t won the game called life. Search for the win-win, be of service to those around you, make a difference, and do what makes you love yourself before pleasing anyone else.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Are you an expert at scaling? Then we need you! We’ve dedicated ten years to growing Little Glass Art and are so proud of what we have to show for it. That said, we are ready to make the next leap and replicate what we’ve done in Denver, Colorado, to other cities like Phoenix, Miami, Nashville, etc!

Over the next 12 months, we aim to connect with people with the expertise and drive to help us make that a reality. From fundraising to scaling marketing and operations, your expertise could make a difference for us!
