Meet Kacie Fournier

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kacie Fournier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kacie, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Gaining confidence and self-esteem has been a transformative journey for me. I was extremely shy as a child. It all started with perfecting my craft and honing my skills. I dedicated countless hours to mastering my chosen field, striving for excellence every step of the way. The more I invested in refining my abilities, the more my self-assurance grew.

One crucial aspect of my confidence-building journey was learning from the best. I sought out mentors and experts in my field who could guide and inspire me. Their wisdom and guidance provided me with invaluable insights and techniques, enabling me to continuously improve. Embracing their teachings fueled my confidence, as I began to see tangible progress in my work.

However, I realized that acquiring knowledge and skills alone wasn’t enough; I needed to adopt a lifelong learning mindset. No matter how proficient I became, there was always room for growth and innovation. I remained open to new ideas, stayed curious, and consistently expanded my knowledge base. Each new lesson I learned enhanced my confidence, as I felt more equipped to handle various challenges and adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of my field.

Moreover, celebrating my accomplishments, irrespective of their size, played a crucial role in building my self-esteem. Recognizing and acknowledging my achievements, no matter how insignificant they may have seemed, instilled a sense of pride within me. By taking time to reflect on my progress and triumphs, my self-worth flourished, and I began to recognize the value of my efforts and abilities.

While perfecting my craft and learning from experts were undoubtedly vital, the most significant catalyst for my rising confidence was the mindset I cultivated. I firmly believed in my potential and refused to let failure define me. Instead, I viewed setbacks as stepping stones toward growth. Embracing a resilient attitude empowered me to persevere through challenges, bounce back from disappointments, and continually strive for improvement. With each setback overcome, my self-esteem received a tremendous boost.

In conclusion, my confidence and self-esteem have soared as a result of perfecting my craft, learning from the best, and never ceasing to learn. By investing time and effort into developing my skills, seeking guidance from mentors, cultivating a growth mindset, and celebrating my accomplishments, I have nurtured an unwavering belief in myself and my abilities. Remember, confidence is not an overnight process but a continuous journey that requires perseverance, dedication, and a commitment to personal growth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe the three most impactful qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge were resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning. Here’s my advice for those early in their journey on how to develop or improve on these:

Resilience:
The ability to bounce back from setbacks and challenges is crucial. To enhance your resilience, embrace failure as an opportunity for growth rather than a roadblock. Seek feedback, learn from your mistakes, and use them as stepping stones to improve. Celebrate small victories along the way to stay motivated. Surround yourself with a supportive network of mentors and peers who can provide guidance and encouragement during tough times.

Adaptability:
In an ever-changing world, being adaptable is essential. Embrace change and be open to new opportunities and possibilities. Challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Develop a growth mindset, which includes being open to feedback, actively seeking new knowledge, and being willing to unlearn and relearn. Engage in activities or experiences that expose you to diverse perspectives and help you develop flexibility in your thinking. This could include volunteering, traveling, or joining teams or organizations.

Continuous Learning:
Never stop learning, as knowledge is a powerful tool. Stay curious and seek out opportunities for growth and development. Take advantage of online courses, workshops, or seminars to expand your skill set. Cultivate a habit of reading books, articles, or blogs related to your field of interest or broader areas of knowledge. Engage in discussions and debates to challenge your understanding and gain new insights. Remember that learning can occur both inside and outside the traditional classroom setting.

Overall, building resilience, adaptability, and a thirst for continuous learning will not only enhance your personal and professional journey but also equip you to thrive amidst the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Four Agreements, recommended by one of my mentors long ago changed my perspective on life from the first time I read it. I have read it several times since then, and even listened to it a few times, and have gained something different each time.

“The Four Agreements” is a self-help book that offers a practical guide to personal freedom. The book presents four agreements or principles that, when followed, can significantly impact one’s life. I have even been inspired to create a workshop around these agreements at my salon and spa.

1. Be Impeccable with Your Work
2. Don’t Take Anything Personally]
3. Don’t Make Assumptions
4. Always Do Your Best

They sound so simple, however, when broken down as they do in the book, it offers you so much insight into how things can be completely different when looked at from another angle. It has changed my life.

My nuggets from this book: Remember, your word is a powerful thing be impeccable with it in a positive and honest way. Don’t take things personally, you are only responsible for yourself, not others, what they do has nothing to do with you, it is simply a reflection of them and their belief systems. Don’t make assumptions, ask for clarification, assumptions can lead to misunderstandings and unnecessary conflicts. Always do your best and remember that your best will change from day to day depending on how you are and that is ok, still give your best in everything that you do, wherever that is that day.
