Meet Kaila Marino

We recently connected with Kaila Marino and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaila, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I’ve always been confident and liked who I am as a person. I grew up dancing on stage in front of large audiences since I could walk so I assume that ability to perform in front of large crowds helped shake me of any insecurity. As I get older, I try to nurture this self esteem by doing what feels good to me, and never wavering from the things I like due to someone else opinion, and consistently putting myself into situations where I might fail, but usually don’t & if I do, I just learn and do better the next time. I think everyone should do things in life that scare them but they do anyway.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Kaila! I own freshwaterimage photography. I am a wedding & lifestyle photographer! I am from Michigan and love this state & its abundance of fresh water sources. With love and intention I combined my two favorite things (home & art) and the name freshwaterimage was born! I have a really great knack for interacting with people and a great love for them. I think my ability to love humans directly translates into how I like to capture them.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think having the confidence to leap into something, the knowledge to know you’ll sometimes fail, but the tenacity to keep trying is how success is born. The best advice I have for anyone starting photography is that no one else is you, use that to your advantage and market your brand based on your unique personality, authentically That can help you stand out in an oversaturated market.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
I love this question. My ideal clients are all of the clients who already are hiring me. I don’t attract anything or anyone who already isn’t this person! They are all kind, patient, loyal, and respectful of my time and art. I could not be happier with who is being attracted to this business.
