Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kamau El. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kamau , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my bloodline. It’s in my DNA to be a fighter and to keep going. My resilience comes from a deep understanding of knowing who I am and also my life purpose. I’ve also gained inspiration from my family to be resilient and taught this trait at a young age mainly from observation. Also from studying other resilient people and how they overcame certain circumstances to become successful in their own lives.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m Kamau El. I own an apparel company and am also an author. I enjoy designing cool clothing and accessories that invokes stares and also thinking. My books are based on knowledge that may not be privy to majority of people but very profound. My style of writing is very intricate but simple when reading like storytelling. I’ve been working on expanding my ambassador team through many social media platforms and states. I’m focused on getting the message of love, truth, peace, freedom, and justice out to the world through my apparel line and book company.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being coachable, motivated, and disciplined has been the most impactful on my journey so far. Being coachable is having the will and ability to learn. You have to be open to learning from others and have an understanding that in order to grow, you must learn. A know it all mentality gets you nowhere. Be willing to learn from people who know more than you. Motivation is important because it gives you something to strive towards. When you are motivated, you will put in the necessary effort to attain your goals. Being disciplined is very important because some days are going to be harder than others but you must stay the course. Discipline is needed when the motivation may not be there that day but you still get it done. This formula will help you build healthy relationships, learn, and achieve great things.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months has been my mindset. Being in an healthier mindset has done wonders for me holistically. It can’t be overlooked or overemphasized how important it is to be in a positive mindset and environment. Having the right support around you plays a pivotal part in this also. Starve the negativity until it dies whether it’s your own thoughts or people you’re surrounded by. It’s always levels to growth in many areas so when you see the improvement, you’re able to analyze things from an unbiased perspective. I’m a positive person by nature but I must say I’ve improved my mindset even more over the past 12 months.
