Meet Kandy Joy Akhal

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kandy Joy Akhal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kandy Joy, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I am a Survivor!! I mean, fighting and beating the worst type of breast cancer barely a year after arriving a new country is enough for me to be resilient.

Back then in Africa, I was raised to stand tall, never to give up, to have a positive mind set in all adversity.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Kandy, I was born & raised in Nigeria. I moved to United States during summer in 2018. I work in healthcare sector as an EMR consultant, I’m also an image consultant (I have always love fashion); I’m a Author, a freelance Etiquette coach & above all, a Breast Cancer Survivor.

Fighting & Beating the most aggressive type Breast Cancer barely a year after I got to a new country is the hardest thing I have ever dealt with.

According to research Triple negative breast cancer is the worst and most common type of cancer in young women in their early thirties.
I was upset, in denial, I mean; i have no family history of cancer. I leaned on hope knowing God has never failed me.

Writing my book “From Scars to Petals” really did help me heal, all my pains and depression gradually faded away as I wrote; my book is available on Amazon, by the way.

This experience also brought the birth of a non – profit organization called The ALOSH FOUNDATION, we assist the less privileged especially in Africa; we also help raise awareness for Breast Cancer across the globe, by emphasizing on the importance of yearly mammograms and general wellness checks. We have counsel various women fighting this terrible disease & thankfully we have had a lot of surviving cases.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Faith, courage and resilience. I’m not a person who will ever give up without a good run, even when all odds are against me, I just smile and keep going because I know who God say I am.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I will Like to collaborate with folks who have passion for humanity , families who have history of cancer, survivors who are willing to join hands with me to create more awareness about this nerve wracking disease.

We are also open to donations through my charity website to help assist a lot of families in Africa who are sick and lack shelter.

Lastly I will like to collaborate with various fashion brands to promote their brands or share my knowledge with them as a fashion influencer.

Thank you so much for taking out time to speak with me today on your reputable platform.
