We were lucky to catch up with Karyn Millet recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Karyn, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism about life comes from my unshakable faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us “faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the certainty of things unseen.” I approach every day and its joys and challenges knowing this and resting in the comfort of God’s Truth. Nothing in life appears to come close to this assurance. It is a treasure, indeed.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I tell the story of beautiful places and spaces with my camera. My clients are interior designers, architects, hotels and magazine editors who hire me as a photographer but also as an “art director” of sorts to invite viewers into a world they admire and by which they are intrigued and inspired.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I always say, if you 1) do what you say you’re going to do 2) show up on time and with a smile and 3) follow-up with a thank you note, you will be successful in your chosen field. Doing the above is an easy and authentic way to stand out in the crowd. Be of service to others!
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents expected me to always do my best with no excuses or complaints. They did this all while being incredibly supportive, relaxed and fun! They provided me with a firm foundation of faith which has been the cornerstone of every achievement in my life.
