Meet Kas Burnam

We were lucky to catch up with Kas Burnam recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kas , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
As a child I’ve always knew I was going to be in entertainment. Whether it was playing football or performing on stage I knew my purpose was to entertain. When I child my siblings, me and some of my cousins use to record ourselves dancing singing and rapping. We even made our own mixtape call the weed album hahaha. We were like 12 and under. But I had a great time doing it and I wanted to pursue music more as a child but football was calling my name. After I got injured playing college football I revisited music again. I’m truly walking in my purpose now. They way my music make people feel, the way I change the energy of the room when I’m on stage or even when I hit play, the look on peoples faces are priceless. I change persons minds when they say RnB is dead. I love making music I love performing.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I make longevity music. My music whether it’s RnB or Rap tell a story. My stories talk about love, passion, break ups, heart break, motivation and life. I take my stories from my personal life, things I’ve experienced, some of my friend’s experiences and imagination as well. Check out my Ep. 11:19 on all music streaming platforms. It’ll give you taste of who I am and what I do as an artist. Also I have a Christmas love song dropping soon so be on the look out for that. It’s titled Christmas On You.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think one thing you have to have is confidence. Confidence is something that has to be in you. When you walk in the room you gotta know you him/her. The second think I would say is be knowledgeable. Is this industry you can get screwed by Dj, executive, interviewers, managers, the list goes on. I would say learn the business. Even if you’re looking to be signed. Learn the game. Next I would say learn how to record yourself. This guy once asked me if I had my own studio equipment. I’m like na I go to the studio to record. He said well you ain’t serious about this. Everybody I know got their own studio setup. That’s how I know they serious. I kinda got mad because I had songs recorded and had been releasing music but after I really thought about it. It made a little sense. I got my studio equipment asap. That’s one of the best things I ever did.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I go talk to God, then my Wife. After that I go to my studio room to write. It necessarily doesn’t have to be music. A lot of the time I jot down my thoughts, how I’m feeling, what made me feel this way, what are some solutions. Then it’ll turn into a song.
