We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kassidy Gaston a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kassidy, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive in a lot of different ways. Mainly by letting my inner child run wild. I still color, I do puzzles, I read fiction and still watch cartoons. On top of curating my social media feed to things I truly enjoy. Any chance I get to escape the real world and let my imagination run free I let it.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am Kassidy. My brand name is TheMagiKTouch. I am a passionate makeup artist with an unwavering love for all things glamourous. I strive to enhance natural features. From soft and ethereal to bold and dramatic, whether it’s for a wedding or special occasion. I deliver flawless results that leave my clients feeling like the best version of themselves. My main service is makeup but be on the lookout for facials and potentially hair services since I am a licensed cosmetologist.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Being receptive to feed back. Im an artist so I’m sensitive about my work but being receptive has helped me be able to see things in a different light and also helped me not take things so personal , every body won’t like your work and that’s okay.
2.Lack of fear. I’ve failed so much that going up is the only possible answer. When you want to come an entrepreneur you literally take one of the biggest risks. You have to 100% invest in yourself. Nothing is more scary then spending money investing just for it fall through the cracks. When you choose this career you can not be afraid. You can’t be afraid to fail and you can’t be afraid to win. It will always hold you back
3. Remain teachable. Never think you can’t be taught that will always be your biggest downfall. Know that you will never know enough. There will always be somebody that knows more than you , take what you can learn , be grateful and grow with your knowledge.
The advice I have if you’re on this journey is to remain grounded, Know everything is not personal. People will see you and won’t say anything , but you are still seen just keep going.
