Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kate Samples. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kate, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
After I had my first child and I was let go from a job in the corporate world I was really left to sit with myself and my thoughts and decide how to move forward. either go back to a typical 9-5 and have my kid(s) in daycare OR follow a passion and idea that had been in my brain for years. i reached out to a local boutique and started working 2 days a week and i was able to get regular clients who wanted to come shop with me. it was amazing to see how spending time with them and creating looks for these women brought out a whole new side… confidence… something i believe every women should feel. from there i decided to break out on my own and make a business of helping women feel confident getting dressed every single day. weather its for a date night, big corporate presentation or their kids soccer game.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I offer many services for (mostly) women and men. I do cloest edits, personal shopping and styling. I cater to each clients individual vibe and style. I help them clear out what is no longer serving them, shop for what they are missing and create looks they feel beautiful and confident in. Hearing a client say “i absolutely love this and never would have picked it for myself” if the best compliment!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say having the courage to bet on yourself is the most important and empowering thing in the world. it can be so scary to follow a dream but its worth putting your time and energy into something that makes YOU happy and fulfilled. You also need to be willing to try new things and when they dont work out, still learn a lesson from that experience. Always be open to new ideas and client feedback as well so you can continue to improve.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Right now im at a point where things are moving and grooving and new clients are steady and my calendar is booked BUT im due with my 3rd child in a few short weeks. Im feeling anxious about taking time off and missing out on new clients or not being available to help existing clients when they need me. its scary to be forced to take a break when youve put so much into something for years now!
