Meet Katherine Herron

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katherine Herron. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Katherine with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Being the third child and only girl in a highly competitive family taught me resilience at a young age. I still remember being 12 years old and playing basketball in the backyard against my brother who started as point guard on the varsity basketball team. I lost over and over again, but I learned to not give up no matter what. Grades came so naturally for my brothers, but I had to work hard in school. I learned the value of solid work ethic at a young age, and it has manifested in every aspect of my life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I own a tutoring company in Highland Park called Hola HP. Hola is special, because it provides purposeful and meaningful tutoring for the HPISD student. Our tutors know in advance what is happening in the HPISD classrooms and actively prepare for meaningful tutoring at our facility. We offer tutoring and educational services for PreK through senior year and into college! You name it, we tutor it!

Hola grew quickly from a small office in Snider Plaza to 5 different locations in Snider as word caught on in our community. We consolidated to a new, beautiful home in Hilltop Plaza and most recently expanded our current location by 1900 square feet.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Believing wholeheartedly in the purpose for your business and how it can make an impact. I absolutely love the work my tutors do with our community. 2. The ability to know the staffing your business needs and to hire wisely. My tutors are all beyond special. They make the company what it is. Hire people who represent your company well.
3. Take the time to listen and learn from your clients and their needs. Encourage both constructive and positive feedback as you learn and adjust. Know there is always room for growth and improvement, no matter where you are in your business journey!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents have been a vital role in my success. They have always encouraged me to believe in myself and follow my gut instinct on everything. They have been there for me in times where I needed help with my kids while I was working or there for advice when I am trying to work through something challenging at work. They, and my husband, have been the biggest support team and have helped me have the courage to take risks.
