Meet Katrina Fleisher

We were lucky to catch up with Katrina Fleisher recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Katrina, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My first instinct is to say my work ethic was born out of necessity. I wanted a comfortable, stable life, and it takes effort and diligence to achieve and maintain it.

I’m also descended from a long line of hard-working farmers and proprietors who dared to see things differently and live outside norms.

Being self-employed often means working 60 hours for yourself, so you don’t have to work 40 hours for someone else! There are pros and cons to it, but the relative freedom and flexibility are well-worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I own and operate Click Kat Marketing & Media as a marketing consultant and writer, specializing in the events and entertainment industry. I also run Let’s Party! DJs & Events with my husband and business partner, Bud, and together we own and manage the Facebook group, South Florida Weddings: one of the largest and fastest-growing groups on the platform.

Like most small business owners, I wear a lot of hats! I design email mailings, websites, invitations, postcards, brochures, social media ads, and business cards. I also write website copy, articles, press releases, personalized wedding vows, and poetry, and I’ve even done voiceover work for radio ads.

I’ve always enjoyed all things creative, and when I met my husband, I realized I could use my interests to take his business to the next level while also making a niche for myself within the marketing industry. I enjoy spreading messages of love and celebration and promoting companies and individuals that offer both quality and value to clients.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that helped me most are: Flexibility, Practicality, and Integrity. Knowledge and skills can be garnered through the greatest teacher: experience.

I was not someone who knew what they wanted to do with their life from an early age. Instead, I viewed life as a journey to be taken one day at a time.

I was flexible by saying “yes” to opportunities often, and I still do! It is important to know when to say “no” as well, but if there is a chance to showcase your skills, have an adventure, grow in your field, or even get into a different niche or field, being open-minded can lead to fascinating places.

Practicality was helpful, because it allowed me to build a business using skills that were in demand. “Marketing and Media Consultant” may not always be my dream job, but I’m able to be creative within it, utilizing most of my skills and interests.

Integrity drove me to show up, to follow through with projects and promises, to go the extra mile, to be considerate of others, to compromise when necessary, and to be of service. Sometimes I fall short of the mark, but I do my best to follow the Golden Rule and to not lose sight of what is truly important.

The following quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson springs to mind: “What is success? To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Many people are juggling multiple aspects of life: families, careers, friendships, volunteer work, hobbies, exercise, self-care, etc. It’s no wonder overwhelm is so common! I’m no exception to this, and some days it is difficult to find balance and rest.

Many things help me experience more ease, and the more I do them, the better I feel! I enjoy Qigong, yoga, meditation, EFT tapping, writing/journaling, gratitude lists, poetry, singing, baking/cooking, laughing, and long, uninterrupted walks. It’s vital we take time to slow down, put our phones away, and do things that nourish our soul on a regular basis. The healthier we are in mind and body, the more we will be able to accomplish in work and in life.
