Meet Kelly Brown

We were lucky to catch up with Kelly Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kelly, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
To God be the Glory! I found out my purpose when I started to pour into myself. The journey started in December 2009 when I was seeking more from, The Most High God. I started to question things “like this can’t be life, doing the same things every day and every weekend” It has to be more to life? is what I said to myself. The lifestyle I was living was a dead end, a cyclical cycle, and a hamster wheel of meaningless actives. The more I started to “Ask, Seek and Knock” God started to reveal more things to me. I realized that the life I was living was traditional pattern habits and conditioning thinking patterns that have been passed down from generation to generation that didn’t make any sense. My simple prayer was God give me something greater to do, I’m tired of living this lifestyle. That was the beginning for me, when I became alive, like my heart started to beat for the first time at the age of 25.

Everything before then was just habits, controlled thoughts and conditioned pattern that have been passed down such as go to school, go to college, get a good job, retire and then start living which is insanity to me. The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results. That was my life until I surrender and asked God to show me the Way. What if we were taught the POWER of believing in ourselves, The POWER of Frequencies, Energies and realms at an early age. When the light bulb when off for me reality hit me hard. I had to be honest, I had to look at myself, my family and my community and the first words I utter was “O shoot we are in trouble!”

I completed a 4-year Degree at Marygrove college and earned my bachelor’s degree in social work, my heart is in the streets for my people to help heal and guide my people to freedom. Freedom of true expression and identity. This one quote from Esther Hicks that touched my soul is ” What do you know that I don’t know? “The only thing you can say to them is of any real value is that I figured out the relationship with me” My Purpose is to help others to see that they are the Chosen Ones, that the generational curses stop with them, and that it’s time to break free from bondage and captivity in their thinking! So we can have life and have it more abundantly! and when you are the curse breaker of your family you will have to go against the grain on what’s been taught but I need YOU to stand up in your POWER! you will lose some family, friends or even your significant other when you step outside the box and start aligning with your true self. I promise you God will send you your tribe. “I Make My Moves In Silence”

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My primary focused is to be a light in dark places. I’m from the West side of Detroit Joy Rd Ext 9 where many people don’t make it out mentally or physically. I’m just grateful I didn’t ignore the calling on my life because of fear and questioning” what will other people think” which was a feeling and thought I had. Building my non-profit S.O.L.O Saving Our Lost Ones was birth in 2010 because “I once was lost but now I’m found” became a 501c3 in September 2021. We focus on helping youth overcome the distractions of societal norms, to help shift their mindsets to higher thinking that teaches them Health, Economic stability and being Fruitful, Furgal and Effective with their finances are the true wealth. We are currently in the process of rehabbing our very own school bus, we are turning a traditional 37-foot school bus into a non-traditional classroom that teaches the subjects above and S.O.L.O.’S specialize community program that focuses on “Messages In The Music & Who are you with-out the fashion.

The school systems are failing our youth and it’s time to teach fresh anointing subjects that will spark the youth to come into a knowledge of self. So many of our youth are caught up a social media mindset and are unable to identify reality from entertainment and we must shift the mindsets back to reality in order to save the next generation. This is a message to the youth, Listen! “It’s okay to be fresh and wealthy, but not fresh and broke”. and “You don’t want to be the freshest in the neighborhood you want to be one of the wealthiest”- Kelly B

My Brand I Make My Moves In Silence is an awaken, rich in Spirit brand that’s all about stepping out-side of the box of societal norms and becoming your Authentic self that focuses on 3 main challenges I had to over-come within myself and surrounding. Listen STOP TALKING! I Make My Moves In Silence meaning you don’t have to tell everyone what you are doing, when you are doing it, and how you are doing it. YOU yes YOU just drop it in Silence! People will put their self-doubt on you and then you start questioning the plan God has for you and fear will creep in and move you away from GREATNESS! It’s okay to stand alone, that’s when God does his best work in you, when you are alone.

“Everybody Can’t Go”- This one was hard for me because I wanted to take everybody with me, but you have to RELEASE! meaning letting people go, where they will be able to find their own way. Not the way you think they should go even if it’s in the best interest of the person. People have to bump their heads on their own in order to grow. “Everybody Can Go” to the next season where God is taking you in your life so it’s time to elevate and doing so you have to separate!!

” I Am the Interruption”- Meaning we’re not passing down anymore Generational curses, generational lies, and the same blueprint that hasn’t gotten anywhere. When you are the Interruption of your family, you will have to go against the grain on what’s been taught, conditioned and things that have been domesticated in you. It’s time to think outside the box. It’s time to RELEASE and step into the Abundance and become the Interruption of your family.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
3 Impactful things I will share that have helped me come more alive in finding myself and my purpose is “Doing it afraid” and I only do things now that makes me feel alive. Quick story! I remember when I first started cleaning out foreclosed home in 2008 and I didn’t have all the tools when I first began. I didn’t have a drill to change 15 door locks I only had a screwdriver, I didn’t have a dump truck to dispose of the debris, I only had the trunk of my car, and I didn’t have a truck at the time for my lawnmower I used the backseat of my car with the edger hanging out of the window. I’m so relentless!! I’m not stopping!! you don’t have to have everything in order to start just START! Another Quick story of “Doing It afraid.” I purchased my 1st property from the Wayne County Auction in 2012, I had no clue on what to do, everyone around me was spenders and I didn’t want to live like that anymore, I had to make a conscious decision and took the risk on my life.

I stopped blowing my refund checks from college and started becoming more financially educated on what to do with my money. Here go that Listen! again, I used to blow all my money in the mall true story.! by stepping away from what is taught in our community I am now a stakeholder in my community with 5 properties, a community lot and a school bus “Do It Afraid”.

The Most Important knowledge I can drop that shifted my life was getting a personal relationship with God my Auntie taught me that “Annie Mae Starks” my angel on earth. Listen you have to sit with yourself and leave the crowd behind so you can hear from God. You will forever be on a higher vibrational frequency where people will think you are crazy for breaking out of the controlled box. Break out and be set free!! “Everybody Can’t Go” Kelly B

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
I have a few books that sparked my awaken. I didn’t start reading whole books until the age of 25! The first one is the “Secret” by Rhonda Byrne is a must read as soon as you open the book the Downloads and Nuggets will drop in your Spirit, 2nd Freeing the African American’s Mind by Eugene Hughley, everything about this book was life changing unlearning and relearning self, dismantling of African culture and institutions. 3rd The Four Agreements By Don Miguel Ruiz Nugget “Be Impeccable with your Word” and the Bible the Passion translations and NIV is what works for me. Once you tap into self it will forever be life changing. Quote from Dick Gregory “What’s dangerous is when the universe, pick you and you put on the magic glasses. There are rules that go with them. You can never take them off. You never see things that they supposed to be, you see things as they are, and you can never force anyone else to wear them.” Another imperative book you must study is the one on yourself. On this journey you have to heal yourself properly and this is a never-ending journey.
