We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelly Tracy-Holly, LE, CAE, CMLT, Owner, Co-Founder. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelly below.
Kelly, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Thank you for asking. In some ways I think I always knew what my purpose in life was and is. For me though, this question really has many answers. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to make people laugh and feel good about themselves, but I was also a lover of education. I was a sponge when it came to learning anything new. From school, to books to anything hands-on I craved to learn more and teach others what I learned.
As a young child I would dance around the house with a hairbrush or a comb in my hand and sing (albeit not very well) songs to make my family smile. In the fifth grade I was an aid in our school’s special development class. I taught myself sign language and was the interpreter in my school’s choir group. I loved learning and I loved teaching. I knew then that I wanted to become a teacher.
When I went to college I chose education as my major. My love for books steered me towards English Literature. I was going to be a high school teacher and teach others how magical books could be. Unfortunately, not all students loved books and learning as much as I do. I was disheartened and chose not to pursue school teaching as a career. I did not however give up on my idea of teaching others. I just wasn’t sure how I was going to continue to pursue that calling that I felt.
In my 20’s I got 9-5 office jobs and honed my skills in the business world. Accounting, project management, banking, import/export, administration and brokering insurance packages were all areas I came to know well. None of it was satisfying. I also worked at many different kinds of restaurants where I honed my customer service skills but while I enjoyed it for a while it definitely was not my passion.
When I was in my late 20’s I fell in love, got married and we completed our family with a wonderful son. I loved being a wife and mother and still do but something was still pulling at me to find a niche where I could help others too. And that’s when I learned about aesthetic practices and skin care. I could learn, teach others and help others feel good about themselves all while setting my own schedule, being a present wife and mother and being an active member of our community.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an Advanced Aesthetician with my own private practice (Endless Beauty SkinCare in Bend, OR) and a Skin Care Product Creator & Co-Founder of a company called Results by Nature.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ingredients and how they help the skin and I do everything I can to stay on top of the newest and most advanced ingredients and technology in the industry.
The cosmetic and personal care industry is taking the world by storm right now with it’s new and ever-changing ingredient formulations and how the world views ingredients. I am so lucky that I get to help my clients navigate through the push and pull of what ingredients are healthy and non-toxic that will truly help their skin and what ingredients they should stay away from for toxin overload or endocrine disrupting ingredients. Right now there’s this whole hate/hate relationship going on with “clean” skin care companies and chemical/synthetic made skin care companies bashing on each other and these companies aren’t truly working together to make products safe for the people who use them. These terms are thrown around so loosely that it gets so confusing and hard to pick product lines for their safety and efficacy.
In my practice and in our product line messaging, it is so important and imperative that I take the time to teach clients and customers that not all “clean” product lines are non-toxic like they say and also that all synthetic or man-made chemical/ingredients are dangerous like the so-called clean lines want us to believe. There’s also no truth in the statement that a product can’t be effective if it isn’t called a medical or cosmeceutical line that you can only get in a Dr. office or med spa or advanced aesthetic practice.
This will probably make some people upset hearing this but it is soooo true. There are some plants/foods/vitamins that you would never put into skin or personal care products in their natural state and there are some synthetic ingredients that are so much more stable, effective and safe than the natural form.
At Endless Beauty SkinCare and with every product that Results by Nature produces my mission is to help people feel good about the way they look and feel by providing education on ingredients and products that are healthy and effective for their skin.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Education: This industry changes from day to day so I am always doing continuing education, staying signed up on newsletters with companies that create ingredients and watching the industry to see what’s the newest effective ingredient and treatment combinations.
Drive: I NEVER give up. If I run into a wall I find a way around it. I never stop trying.
Performance: I practice what I preach! I never do a service on someone before I try it on myself and I never suggest a product that I don’t know it’s ingredients or that I’ve never used.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
I think the number one challenge that I face today is trying to balance taking care of two companies & taking care of myself too.
I love what I do so passionately that hours slip by and I then realize that I haven’t eaten or taken any breaks or talked with my friends or my husband all day. I sometimes (maybe a lot) obsess at home the tasks for work I should be doing next and then I want to get back to work again. I always want to be doing more. It makes me feel good to make others feel good.
The flip side of that is when I finally let go and focus on self care, taking time with my family and friends and doing things in and for my community, my passion for that takes over and I always want to be doing more here too and not doing work.
I would love it if there were more hours in the day, more days in the week, more weeks in the month and well, you get the picture. Since I know this isn’t a real possibility I try really hard to discipline myself to block out times that are equal for both work and my personal life. This helps me to be successful and feel balanced.
