Meet Kenny James

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kenny James. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kenny , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Where do I get my resilience from? It’s a quality that runs deep within me, but if I were to pinpoint its origin, I would say I owe a significant portion of my resilience to my mom. She has been a constant source of inspiration and strength in my life.

My mom, a remarkable woman, embarked on her journey as a single mom. Despite the challenges she faced, she never allowed adversity to define her. Instead, she used it as fuel to propel herself forward. Her determination led her to achieve the rank of Sergeant Major in the army, a position that demands unwavering dedication and perseverance.

Witnessing her crush her goals in the military was awe-inspiring. I saw her face daunting obstacles head-on, never backing down. She taught me the importance of resilience, showing me that giving up is simply not an option. Her unwavering spirit and unyielding commitment to her dreams instilled in me the belief that I am capable of overcoming any challenge that comes my way.

But my mom’s journey didn’t stop there. After retiring from the army, she took another leap of faith and ventured into entrepreneurship. Owning her own business came with its fair share of setbacks and uncertainties, but she refused to let them deter her. Through her unwavering determination, she turned her entrepreneurial aspirations into reality.

I have seen firsthand the incredible power of resilience through my mom’s actions. She has shown me that setbacks and failures are merely stepping stones on the path to success. She has taught me to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, to never give up on my dreams, and to persevere even when the odds are stacked against me.

Her unwavering spirit has become a part of my core. It fuels my resilience and reminds me that I have the strength within me to overcome any obstacle. Whenever I face difficulties, I draw upon her example, knowing that her unwavering belief in herself and her ability to overcome challenges is a legacy that I carry within me.

So, when asked where I get my resilience from, I proudly say that it comes from my mom. Her tenacity, courage, and refusal to give up have shaped me into the resilient person I am today. I am eternally grateful for her unwavering support and for being the embodiment of resilience in my life.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth is my mental mindset. I owe my current mental clarity to my son Jordan. After having him I was able to step away from working and fully be able to work and freelance full time. Before I allowed myself to not dream big because of not wanting to fail.
