Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
First, my passion for helping others has been a driving force behind everything I do. Whether through my books or my work as a doula, the desire to support and uplift others has fueled my journey. This passion helps me connect authentically with both readers and clients, and it adds meaning to everything I create.

Secondly, versatility and lifelong learning have been essential. My journey has taken me in many directions—publishing 23 titles, becoming a doula, and most recently, earning my certification as a Maternal Mental Community Health Worker. Embracing these different roles has not only expanded my skills but also allowed me to better serve my audience in a more holistic way. Staying curious and open to learning has kept me growing and evolving.

Finally, storytelling and communication skills have been foundational. My ability to convey messages—whether through my books or in one-on-one doula support—has been key to making an impact. Good communication builds trust, inspires, and helps me connect on a deeper level with those I seek to help.

What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

For those starting out, I’d say: find your passion first. It’s so important to connect your work with something you truly care about. Whether that’s writing, caregiving, or something else entirely, if it’s driven by a genuine love for what you’re doing, it will keep you going through the challenges.

Secondly, never stop learning. It’s okay to start small and grow step by step. Take workshops, get certifications, and explore new areas of interest. The more knowledge and experience you gain, the more versatile you become, which allows you to serve people in deeper and more varied ways.

Finally, practice storytelling and communication. Whether you’re writing a book, teaching a class, or working one-on-one with someone, your ability to communicate clearly and empathetically makes all the difference. Practice writing, speaking, and listening. Seek feedback and learn from it. It’s these skills that build trust and create real connections.

Stay open to growth, and embrace every opportunity to learn more about yourself and how you can contribute.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely! I’m always open to collaborating with individuals and organizations who share a passion for empowerment, wellness, maternal health, and storytelling. Specifically, I’m looking for partners in the following areas:

Fellow authors and creatives who are passionate about uplifting and inspiring others through their work. Whether it’s co-authoring projects, hosting workshops, or engaging in literary discussions, I’d love to connect with other storytellers.

Health and wellness professionals, especially those in the maternal health space. As a Doula and Maternal Mental Community Health Worker, I am deeply committed to supporting new parents and addressing maternal mental health. I’m eager to collaborate on projects that focus on wellness education, mental health advocacy, and community-building for mothers and families.

Nonprofits and community organizations that are focused on maternal health, mental wellness, family support, or women’s empowerment. I believe in creating accessible, inclusive resources, and I’m excited to work with organizations who align with that mission.

Book clubs, libraries, and educators who are interested in promoting literature focused on personal growth, wellness, and empowerment. I’d love to partner for readings, book talks, or community events that encourage dialogue around these topics.
