We recently connected with Kevan Sharperson and have shared our conversation below.
Kevan, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
As I continue to build upon my success, a lot of doors open to rooms with influential and powerful individuals.
These rooms serve as a melting pot of successful people from all walks of life.
Almost instantly, you notice that in some of these rooms, you are the only black man in attendance.
It is enough to make anyones nerves get the best of them. However, in my experience I realized that these people were once just like me. Striving to succeed and be the best version of themselves everyday.
They believed in their skills, their work ethic and drive; why shouldn’t I do the same?
So instead of allowing the nerves and self-doubt to take control; I learned it’s more effective to keep in mind, that even when alone in a room of successful people that doesn’t look like me, I can confidently know I put in the work to belong here .
More importantly, to never forget the same desire and confidence that inspired me to reach this level of success.

Greetings, I am Kevan Sharperson, I am CEO of BlackMarketOutlet Inc. a marketing and eccomerce company. We offer services such as product placement, marketing, commercial production, graphic design and network events(pop up shops, product launch, events,etc.)
We have created platforms and channels for the content creators, small businesses in need of marketing, advertising for their products or business.

The purpose of creating this platform and website was to create a community of creators and businesses that provides assistance from creators like them.
As a creator, I understand the struggles of finding funding your projects. So I decided why not create a utopia for creators to do what we do best, create!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three skills that were impactful in my journey were my knowledge of production formats, content editing and stubbornness.
I say stubbornness because in your journey starting a business there will be many days you want to quit. Many circumstances when you feel like what you’re doing is never going to work. You have to be stubborn enough to believe that it will work, it’s going to work by any means necessary.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m looking for creators, social media influencers, small business owners to collaborate with. I’m beginning a new show for creators to send their products in for us to highlight and promote. This will be a 10 min episodes with interview slots available for us to give the business owners/ creators a chance to market their product and relate to the viewers.
