We were lucky to catch up with Kevin Scott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I got my work ethic from my dad, even now at 64 he is go,go,go with multiple tasks at one time. I was raised to get the job done and help others along the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I started my mobile detailing business this year. It was a random idea to start doing what I enjoy. Cars are a passion of mine and I’ve always enjoyed being the person that has an eye for detail and making cars that most think can’t get better to them being blown away. I use to clean my dad’s friend’s classic cars when I was younger. They would purposely drive their classic car to my dad’s cause they knew I hated dirty chrome.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the drive to prove to myself I can do it was the most important. I’ve made errors along the way but that’s part of the journey. Advertisement is important invest in it as much as you can, word of mouth will take you a lot further. Starting is the hard part once the wheel is moving it gets easier.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My wife has been the most helpful helping me start my business, by researching and helping push me when I was doubting myself and this journey.
