Meet Khadyajah Jenkins

We were lucky to catch up with Khadyajah Jenkins recently and have shared our conversation below.

Khadyajah, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My mission is to serve as a bridge to opportunity for the communities I engage with. Throughout my academic pursuits, I have been committed to this goal. Presently, I am enrolled in not one, but three universities—yes, three! This unique journey fuels my passion for transforming complex topics and diverse fields of study into clear, actionable steps. Whether you’re beginning a new chapter or continuing your journey, I aim to make education accessible and relevant to your everyday life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am currently enrolled in the Penn State Doctor of Education Program, American University, and the University of Michigan’s 2024 Sexuality Health and Education cohort, planning to further my education with a PhD in Human Sexuality. My journey began in an unexpected fashion—selling lingerie and intimate wear. This initial venture sparked my passion to become a community advocate and scientist, addressing critical issues from public health to educational equity, and teaching people how to cultivate healthy, loving relationships. I strive to be a heartfelt and empathic leader at the intersection of advocacy, community, education, inclusivity, sex positivity, and overall well-being and harmony. I own and operate a boutique agency that provides affordable academic, career, and branding services. Continuously releasing multi-category products and services, engaging in speaking events, and serving my community, I am the true definition of a multi-hyphenate. Beyond everything, I teach us to step out of fear, shamelessly share our stories, and fall deeply in love with this wild ride we call life! I have also cultivated an online community totaling 31,000 members worldwide, sharing resources and opportunities in all things college, career, and community

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In the journey towards my goals, there are three indispensable qualities that pave the path to success:

(1) Research: Dive deep into the realm of knowledge. It’s not just about scratching the surface; it’s about uncovering hidden gems, exploring uncharted territories, and gaining insights that propel you forward.

(2) Strategy: Craft a roadmap for your aspirations. Every step forward should be purposeful, every decision intentional. It’s the blueprint that turns dreams into achievable milestones.

(3) Seeking Help: Never underestimate the power of collaboration. Don’t be afraid to reach out, to seek guidance, to learn from others’ experiences. It’s not a sign of weakness; it’s a testament to your willingness to grow.

And remember, my biggest piece of advice for all aspiring achievers out there is this: Embrace the boldness within you. Put yourself out there unabashedly. Whether it’s advocating for yourself, seizing opportunities, pitching your ideas with fervor, or refusing to accept defeat, do it with unwavering confidence. Because greatness lies not in timidity, but in the audacity to pursue your dreams relentlessly, undeterred by obstacles or setbacks. So, dare to dream, dare to act, and dare to be unapologetically you!

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
To be transparent, the biggest challenge I’m currently facing is dealing with burnout. I’ve always been accustomed to having a lot on my plate and being a high achiever, and I mistakenly thought that burnout was ‘normal’. It’s not, and the only cure for burnout is to truly rest.

I’m also learning that being busy doesn’t necessarily equate to being productive. I’m redefining what productivity means to me, ensuring that the work I do is both impactful and serves the community.
