Khalilah , so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
My self-discipline is a combination of personal values, motivation, habits and mindset. Often, I set goals while maintaining focus and consistency in my actions. Moreover, having a strong sense of purpose and motivation are core elements of self-discipline.

I’m Khalilah Sanders, the proud proprietor of Naked Scents Candle Co. My business is dedicated to promoting self-care by harnessing the power of aroma therapy. I take immense pride in my products, which are a perfect blend of luxury and minimalism. Each candle is crafted with a luxury vessel, eco-friendly wax, clean fragrances, and crackling wooden wicks. The positive feedback I receive about my products serves as a validation of the hard work, time, and creativity that goes into making each one.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that are most impactful in my business endeavor are developing unique products, marketing skills to reach customers, and resilience for overcoming challenges. I would advise others who are early in their journey to focus on solving a problem or fulfilling a need, embrace failures as a learning opportunities, build a strong network, and prioritize customer feedback to refine your product(s) or business structure.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth. has been developing stronger resilience and adaptability, as well as refining my time management skills to balance priorities more effectively.
