We recently connected with Khloe Cain and have shared our conversation below.
Khloe , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I walk into the room as if I own it, like it’s already mine. I’ve never been the one to let intimidation overpower me.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a book editor. I polish manuscripts for authors and publishers. I am well-endowed in developmental, line, and copy editing. I offer proofreading services as well. The most exciting part about my career is that I am able to connect with people from across the world and assist them throughout their writing careers. Being a book editor requires a strong passion for literature, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the publishing industry. The editor’s ultimate satisfaction comes from helping authors bring their stories to life and contributing to the creation of meaningful and impactful books for readers worldwide.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that are impactful in my career are organization, diligence, and patience. A word of advice I’d like to share is to always believe in yourself and keep going. No matter what people say or think, keep going. The journey is meant for you and no one else. Besides, you can’t take everyone on your journey with you.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past 12 months, I have put myself out there more by promoting my business. I noticed people like to see the face of the company so I challenge myself to do videos from time to time so they see me and know I am real, lol. I also hired a marketing coach and she’s helped my brand in so many ways that I can’t even begin to thank her enough.
