Meet Kiara Miller

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kiara Miller a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiara, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
My journey as a successful beauty entrepreneur began in my teens, a time of curiosity and exploration. Intrigued by beauty techniques, I started experimenting with lashes and eyebrows, which quickly gained attention among my peers. Charging a modest fee, I began to see the inklings of a future in this industry.

As I navigated post-high school choices, God led me to business and makeup. Volunteering at fashion shows allowed me to refine my skills and connect with clients. A pivotal decision was made – I needed formal training. Cosmetology school provided me with essential skills, and I honed my passion in waxing and skincare.

Taking the leap into entrepreneurship, I established my own suite. Challenges came, including the pandemic, but they only fueled my determination. Recognition grew, leading to expansion and a second suite. My purpose crystallized around helping others discover their beauty potential.

In conclusion, my journey showcases the organic evolution of a beauty entrepreneur, guided by God, passion and hard work. From modest beginnings to a flourishing business, my story stands as a testament to the power of authenticity and determination.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello, I’m Kiara Miller, a proud Detroit native who’s been shaping my journey in the beauty industry for nearly 7 years. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, I’ve always had a fiery passion for beauty and self-care.

Now, at 25 years old, I’ve turned that passion into a thriving reality. As a licensed esthetician and the owner of CBK Spa, nestled in the heart of Southfield, Michigan, I’ve created a haven for those who seek the pinnacle of luxury in self-care. In this serene sanctuary, we offer a range of services that reflect not only my expertise but also my dedication to crafting an experience like no other.

Facials, waxing, body treatments, brow tints, lashes, and makeup – these are just a few brushstrokes in the masterpiece that is CBK Spa. But we don’t stop there. We infuse handmade luxury exfoliating scrubs into our offerings, ensuring that every touchpoint resonates with our commitment to excellence.

However, CBK Spa is not just a business for me; it’s a calling, a testament to my faith. Driven by my belief in God, this spa is a space where we cater to the unsung heroines of our society. I’m talking about the women who juggle multiple roles – the 9-5 workers, mothers, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, and all the hardworking souls who fuel the world. At CBK Spa, we make it our mission to provide them with not just luxurious self-care but also a moment to replenish and rejuvenate.

We understand that those who give so much to others need to pour back into themselves. It’s about finding that equilibrium between confidence and productivity.

And the story doesn’t end here. Looking ahead, my aspirations are set on new horizons. I’m committed to continuing my education and expanding my skills. My vision extends to obtaining my esthetics instructor’s license, which will pave the way for me to impart my knowledge and passion to others. Teaching, guiding, and mentoring individuals who share my fervor for esthetics is the natural progression of my journey.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey from its humble beginnings, I’ve come to realize that determination is the driving force that propels you forward, regardless of whether others share your vision or not. It’s about investing in yourself at every opportunity, about honing your skills and knowledge. It’s about being unafraid of mistakes. Because the truth is, both in life and in business, you’re bound to make them.

But here’s the crux of it all – staying determined through thick and thin, regardless of the hurdles, is what matters. You can’t let setbacks dim your fire. And that’s where remembering your ‘why’ comes into play. Understanding why you started on this journey, what ignited your passion and drive, that’s what keeps you on course even when success knocks on your door.

So, looking back, that’s my advice to anyone treading the path of entrepreneurship or even just navigating life. Believe in yourself, invest in your growth, and don’t fear mistakes. Stay focused on your passion and never lose sight of your ‘why’. Because, ultimately, when you do reach the pinnacle of success, it’s this unwavering determination that will be your anchor, ensuring that your flame burns steady and bright.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
The kind of folks I’m really excited about collaborating with are those who share my vision. I’m talking about community leaders, photographers, videographers, fellow estheticians, driven entrepreneurs – people who want to step up and invest in the future of young women aspiring to be entrepreneurs.

What’s close to my heart is providing these young women the guidance they need, the knowledge that’s essential. I want to be that stepping stone, offering them the necessary resources and, importantly, the financial support they might need, like grants. It’s all about nurturing their potential and making sure they have the tools to succeed.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s make a difference together. Shoot me an email at changingfacesbyk@gmail.com and let’s explore how we can collaborate to empower the next generation of entrepreneurial women.
