Meet Kirsten Owen

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kirsten Owen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Kirsten with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my outstanding work ethic from my parents. I have learned so many amazing traits from both of my parents ever since I was a child.
Here are a few important traits:
If you are on time, you are late.
Dress for the part you want.
Be your own boss.
Say please. Say thank you.
Say yes ma’am and yes sir.
My Mom has strong southern values.
My parents are the smartest, most loving, giving people I know.
I owe so much to my parents.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am celebrating 5 glorious years with Dallas Mixologist. This year is the year to grow even bigger than prior years.
I will hire more staff, especially behind the scenes. I’ve come to terms that I just cannot do everything on my own. Currently, I do hiring, scheduling, bookings, payroll, etc.
I will have my own app and will start working on a new product to sell. I won’t give too much away here. Stay tuned for something spectacular!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that are most impactful are communication, a strong work ethic and a constant thirst for growth and knowledge. I never stop improving.
My advice is to find something you love to do. Focus on where you want to be. Write down your obtainable goals. It may come in baby steps and it will take a lot of work but if you stick with it you will see the fruits of your labor.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
It would be great to collaborate with people/products. People with great values and ethics, products I believe in and I can use at my many events.
I love referring great people and products.
