We recently connected with Klaudia Kovács and have shared our conversation below.
Klaudia, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my celebrated Olympian swimmer mother. She told me that my talent—if I chose to pursue it—is an obligation to be fulfilled at the highest level.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a multi-award-winning Film & Theater Director and previous Oscar contender in the “Best Documentary” category (Torn from the Flag). Under my company, LEGACY FILMS HOLLYWOOD’s umbrella, I make Oscar-quality film biographies worldwide.
My high-end LEGACY documentaries are 45-90 minutes long, and they focus on my successful clients’ lives and achievements. The VIP individuals and families I work for believe that if anything is truly worth investing in: it’s creating and leaving a legacy that will live on forever.
It is of the utmost importance that I provide world-class service to these high net worth individuals; it’s all about them. There are two major phases of creating a LEGACY FILMS HOLLYWOOD project: Discovery and Production.
Discovery: it takes 2-3 months. We go through what kind of film the stars of the biographies want me to make for them, their personal history, special requests, etc. Based on their vision, wants, and needs, I create an individualized budget, and once they approve it, we move into the production phase.
Production: I write the script, plan the schedule, and organize the shoot. Once we complete filming, I edit the movie with my team, and then organize the exclusive premiere.
Throughout the process, my customers can be as involved or uninvolved as they choose to be. The fact that they fully control the narrative of how they want to be seen is extremely empowering and satisfying to them.
Everybody’s favorite part is the premiere. We normally rent out an elite private movie theater, usually with elegant, plush seats, and the celebrity can invite whomever they want to share the red carpet event with. My subjects and their family get the prime seats in the house, and the most spectacular moment is when the curtains go up and their names appear on the silver screen. Many of them said that, apart from having children and getting married, seeing their legacy on celluloid and on the big screen was the most significant moment of their lives.
So far, I have interviewed and worked with Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners, Academy Award (Oscar) winners, Forbes 400 Americans, presidents of various countries, prime ministers, European royalty, politicians, mayors, and Hollywood celebrities and artists.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My number one skill is my ability to translate the facts and data of someone’s life into the most emotionally satisfying and artistically amazing experience on screen.
The second is my willingness to treat my interviewees as kings and queens because that’s what they are in their own realm. No one goes through life without difficulties, hurts, pains, and losses. The sheer fact that, in spite of their challenges, the hero succeeded on a personal and professional level makes me believe that they deserve the utmost respect. I’ve never heard of a life story that wasn’t unique and valuable in some way, and my fascination with their journey fuels my love for telling their stories in the most profound way.
The third is my commitment to Academy Award quality. My films are serious professional products that can be shown to anyone, anywhere, with pride and satisfaction.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I perceive the leads of my documentaries as collaborators even if they decide not to be involved in the details of the process. I’m always excited to seek out opportunities to introduce my services to future clientele who are ready to dive into legacy-creation and invest in one of the most important projects of their lives.
Who you are seeking is seeking you, and when the right prospect discovers what I provide, it’s a professional match made in heaven. My clients tend to be 50+, high-achieving, and financially well-to-do individuals and families who don’t accept standard, run-of-the-mill videos and regular videography. They expect excellence in the areas of service, as well as artistically, technically, and cinematically, that only a professional, Oscar-contending director can make.
Due to the pandemic, we learned that priorities rapidly change. Legacy- creation has swiftly moved to the forefront and can no longer be considered a side activity.
