We were lucky to catch up with Kobe Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kobe , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism ironically comes from a very dark place in my life. I used to have a very pessimistic outlook on life until I found my happiness in music. With music I’m able to go back to that dark place in my life, grab something from it, translate it into my next song and come back to the mindset I have now. Knowing how far I’ve came from that place, that I can go to that place, and that I can come back from that place keeps me very optimistic.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hippy K is a successful recording artist out of Wichita, KS with the main focus being hip-hop. The first project was “Applying Pressure” in 2019. Not quite yet comfortable with my sound I went on a hiatus to find my true artistic self. Coming back in 2021 & having the strongest run of my career yet in 2022 after dropping 11 singles and a project titled “Trust The Process”. With 2022 coming to a wrap Hippy K plans to up his work ethic even more and become a household name in the music industry.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The first quality that I’ve found essential in the life I live is being a genuine person. People can read through most facades so being yourself with get you a lot farther. A skill that will help is just perfecting your craft day by day & putting in your 10,000 hours. The saying “practice makes perfect” is very true. And just have general knowledge about what you are doing when it comes to uploads, splits, and your recording process. The more you can learn the easier it will be.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m looking to collaborate with other creative music artists. Artists that push their music in their state and beyond it. Also an artist that is willing to put money 50/50 in the right places to promote with me.
