We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Konica Cherry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Konica below.
Hi Konica, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I always knew it was something different about me. I always felt like I had a certain light about me that separated me from other individuals. I was quiet and shy but I was bold enough to lead. I didn’t know what direction I would take in my future as a child but I knew I had a certain aura about me that could be a positive influence to others. I can’t name one thing that I have wanted to do that I didn’t do. I’ve tried different career options, projects, and different crafts. I can admit that though all the areas of interests that I have tried may have not been long term or fit my future but I was never afraid to jump out and try it. I’m a risk taker! Risk takers are bold, a lot of confidence comes with that! I think for me it’s just natural trait. If I say I’m going to do it, I do it. I don’t care about opinions I just jump into it without thinking about the consequences but those are the risk you take when you’re confident.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I consider myself a Serial-Entrepreneur. I run multiple business that cater to your skin and body health. I am most recognized for my skincare business “Koniwani Naturals”. I started my skincare business when I was 22yrs old I am now 27. I’ve always been interested in wholistic Health and being able to find natural remedies to heal my body and be healthy, so that was a driving force in my decision to start creating products. I started my business with no business plan, no direction, and little support. I had no idea that what I thought at the time was just a small craft would turn into a successful business. I think the most special part about my journey was watching myself package small products in Ziplock bags and then watching it transform into a full business with 10+ locations that distribute my products. My journey hasn’t been straight, easy, or how I envisioned it but I can say that is has been worth it. I’ve been able to experience so many opportunities and inspire so many people. The harder I work the more of an impact that I can have on those who think it’s impossible.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being a successful entrepreneurs means being resilient, confident and Innovative. As a entrepreneurs it’s no days off and everyday won’t be a cheerful day and that’s okay. It’s normal to have some days that are tougher than others because that’s what builds character. When you’re running a business you have to know how to face any obstacles that may come up during your journey without feeling defeated. You can’t be resilient without confidence. As for me, it’s like I have to know that my product is something that is valuable to the world. I believe you can do almost if not all things you can have the desire and skills to do. The only thing holding you back is your willingness to take the leap and try it. Entrepreneurs are defined by their ability to constantly develop new ideas and improve on existing foundations. Innovation is developed through networking and just being curious and social at the same time. You can’t be innovative without having the confidence to do so, however you can’t expect a person who isn’t resilient to take on a role of entrepreneurship and fully carry out a successful business without being innovative and confident.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My entrepreneurial journey has been where I’ve seen my faith and resilience grow the most. I’ve questioned whether I’m on the right path. Whether I truly heard the promises and directions that I believe I’ve been given. I’ve questioned why I’m better suited to help people in this specific way, yet I’m not connecting with the people who need me or having the impact I know I should.
I secured 10+ stores, mentored other people with their business, released books & even worked in the community and yet still I’ve been discouraged and have wanted to quit. Multiple times. And each time I told myself I quit I was reminded randomly through a friend or a customer that giving up is not an option.
