Meet Krista Medlock

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Krista Medlock a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Krista, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My purpose found me. There is a point in each individual’s journey when they are introduced to a fire in their belly – a passion that energizes them and their soul. Often, this “call” (because that is really what it is) is overlooked or undermined. Many do not realize how important it is to act and begin exploring what that call means for the season in their life and their future.

My life experiences always brought me back to the same ideas and vision. I then realized that many of my interests and projects that I became excited about led me back to the same purposeful conclusion. You cannot run from your purpose. It will woo you until you relent. At that point, the world opens up!

About Krista Medlock

Krista Medlock is a brand and marketing strategist with over 20 years of experience in brand development, activation, and growth. She has worked with small start-ups to global corporate entities, both B2C and B2B, and has anchored organizations in sound tactical planning and multi-channel execution. Krista has had success in market planning, campaign development, customer experience, corporate and brand strategy, email marketing, digital strategy, and channel partner cultivation. She is the owner of Thriving Brands, a brand consultancy that has built a reputation of translating market opportunity into profitable growth plans for its brand partners. Krista is also an industry speaker at some of the largest beauty industry forums and conferences.

Krista has established a noteworthy presence in the fashion and beauty world, having created and managed over 70 notable brands. She is a “go-to” for large-scale retail brands, global manufacturers, boutique brands, and start-ups. Krista is also a former titleholder in the USA and America pageant systems, including Miss Lake Highlands USA, Miss Highland Park USA, and Miss Richardson. She is a model and pageant coach and was the Director of National Distinguished Women Beauty Pageants. Krista has appeared on Good Morning Texas, local television commercials, talk shows, training videos, and TV pilots.

In addition to her professional tenure, Krista is the owner of Dallas’ premiere women’s events, The Girl Cave Event and The Weekender Dallas. Leveraging her experiences as a successful business owner and beauty industry leader, she is a motivational speaker for women and young girls around the country.

Krista Medlock’s personal mantra, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”, is the daily “grit” check that she uses in her personal and professional pursuits. As the owner of a strategic consultancy and the coveted company, The Girl Cave, Krista is a visionary that believes she can change the world. She is a former Miss Richardson, Miss Highland Park USA, and Miss Lake Highlands USA with appearances on Good Morning Texas, International Beauty Shows, and notable podcasts. Through speaking, Krista uses her life experiences to inspire and activate purpose and potential. When she is not facing life head-on, she is watching a good Lifetime Movie, traveling, or enjoying a meal with her friends.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1, Everything you do should be done with humanity in mind. 2. Know who you are and love who you are.
3. Practice radical faith in your journey.

My advice: Spend time with yourself daily… quiet reflection & introspection. You become an expert in YOU!

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Learning how to appreciate and honor everyone for their uniqueness and individuality- even those who do not treat you well. Learning how to “love” others who are unkind.

My message is for all business leaders but I am looking for more C-Suite women leaders that can mentor and support female founders within our community.
