We recently connected with Kristen Kukta and have shared our conversation below.
Kristen, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I truly believe confidence and positive self-esteem comes with experience and hard work. Hard work, in the sense of getting to know yourself on a different level than ever before. Once you know where you stand, and what you believe in, a positive self-esteem is easy to find. I think another important factor is when you learn how to say no. I was a “yes man” for so many years. I said yes to things that didn’t align with who I was a person. Once I stopped doing that, confidence and self-esteem were easy.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I think the best part about my job is being able to work with business owners and entrepreneurs on their businesses, which is also their passion. I love being able to bring a brand to market and watch someone’s dream come true of owning their own business or selling their own products. I’ve always believed when you share the journey with a business owner as a business owner you learn both positives and negatives along the way. I love helping business owners succeed. My favorite quote is “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room” That is why I love learning from my clients daily.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I don’t know if I can name three off the top of my head but, I personally think one quality that I have worked on very hard and has been most impactful in my journey as a business owner is learning how to listen to understand, instead of just listen to respond. Too often in our life we listen to someone’s story so we can respond immediately and we don’t often fully understand where they’re coming from. I think if someone’s early in their journey to trust your gut, keep your head high, and always tell the truth
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
I think as a business owner when you have to describe your ideal client, the first thing that comes to mind is someone that pays on time. Who is with me? #nojoke In all honesty, I really enjoy working with clients that understand the process and believe in the journey. As an ad agency, we know how to market businesses and brands, but at the end of the day, the client knows their business and brand better than we do. When we work as partners in business, the process is so much smoother and both parties can learn so much. So to conclude, I guess I would say the most ideal client for me is one that treats us as a Marketing partner, and not just an agency.
