We recently connected with Kristina Bethea and have shared our conversation below.
Kristina, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Ever since I can remember, I have been creative. I remember when I was just 6 years old I could draw really well. I developed a passion for art, and have studied art for many years throughout college. I have built up a passion for web development when I was just 15 years old. With development you are literally being creative throughout the entire design and process, and it’s exciting to see the end result.
I believe that being creative comes from within. We are all creative with unique abilities. Some of us just express it more than others, and others think what the other person will think of them, so they limit their abilities to reach their full potential.
I keep my creativity alive by thinking outside of the box and seeing how I can improvise or make something look different. Sometimes I will write, draw or do digital designs via Adobe Illustrator. The world is constantly turning and with that, my creativity also turns. With so many colors and imaginations in the world, you can create almost anything if you don’t stop.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I juggle a few different avenues that combine my skill sets in hopes to be a service to others. I am a Forex Trader/Educator. I trade in the foreign exchange markets where I buy and sell different currencies, and I teach others how to read and make predictions based off market trends and analysis. I have a forex signals app where people can subscribe to the exact trades I take, and have created a forex course where new to advanced traders can learn my strategies.
I also am a developer, building websites and apps for small – medium size businesses. Websites are a fun way to bring out my creativity skills. My first company was going to be a website company, and the name was going to be called bésik (basic). The mission was to build simple websites that will bring a professional touch to the brand, driving sales.
Now, that name has been transitioned into my clothing line, bésik. bésik is a clothing brand hoping to empower people to achieve their greatness, by embracing simplicity in all aspects off their lives. To.be great, one must feel great, and that’s what bésik is all about. Greatness.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three quality skills that were most impactful in my journey are listening, receiving feedback/constructive criticism, and confidence.
The advice I would give for people just getting started is to don’t be afraid to mess up. We are not perfect so there will be imperfections along the way. Always looking to learn and soak up as much knowledge from the industry you’re in, and build. Have the courage to embrace your journey, ask questions and be confident in yourself and the unique skills you have.
Having confidence will allow you to step out of your fears and step into your faith. Try new things to see what sticks and what doesn’t. Leverage different platforms that’s suitable for your business like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Cut out all negativity and what society thinks and follow your own intuition as you know yourself better than anyone else.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
My eyes and ears are always open for new collaborations or partnerships.
Partnerships and collaborations can also be tough as with my past experience so it’s important to choose collaborators wisely, although don’t be afraid to keep taking risks. For bésik’s (basic) clothing line, collaborations can range anywhere from vendor events, to creative artists, chefs, musical artists, dancers, etc. as there is so much you can do with clothing. The Instagram account for clothing line s @besikco
For web and app development, the collaborations and partnerships are mostly independent work, so typically any company or business owner who is just starting out or looking for a new website, a full revamp or re-design, maintenance and SEO services is a fit for me.
