We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kristina Garcia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kristina below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Kristina with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic stems from the reason I started my business, and that’s my son. My son is my why he is the reason I have Little Fish Soaps. Although my son is still small I want him to see his mama always working to make her plans and dreams come to fruition. It’s important for me to show him that if you work hard, and you put your absolute love and best into what you do, you can make anything happen.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
We make small batch artisan soap, bath bombs and steamers. We make them in a fun and creative way with high quality ingredients so they are not only pretty but good for you to. We are always striving to learn new techniques and come up with new designs to keep it interesting and unique. Since we started in 2018 we have branched out into making bubble bars as well as bomb dusts. We will be debuting a make your bomb dust cart later this year. Customers will be able to mix and create their own personal mix of bomb dusts in any way they find fun and perfect to them.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Definitely learning from anywhere you can. Never believe that you know it all, and always keep growing that’s the only way to develop your skill. Do your research learn what all the the materials do that your using individually and together. Have a idea of where you want to take your product/business and work towards getting it there. Make sure your happy doing whatever your creating, people can tell when it’s done with passion and care and it makes a difference.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband is my main supporter although he doesn’t create any of our products he continues to support my growth. He encourages me to make what I love and to be creative and to take inspiration from anywhere I can. He reminds me to keep learning and working to make our business the best it can be. He’s always willing to help where he can whether that’s with technical support, or keeping our little one busy, or helping set up a booth for a market. He’s a constant reminder of why I love what I do, and why I do what I do.
