Meet Dr. Kyle Garbart

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Kyle Garbart a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Kyle, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
At Trident Health and Chiropractic we want to make sure that we provide our patients with top notch services that we believe has had an impact on our health and well-being. Dr. Kyle has been receiving chiropractic adjustments at least weekly for the past 22 years. He contributes chiropractic care to the reason he can still run, exercise, and do martial arts. After an injury in the military his doctors told him that he could never do any of those things again but with the help of his chiropractor he has been able to do those things and more! Other services are offered at the clinic including myofascial release, cupping, dry needling, and IV hydration. Dr. Kyle and his wife Tabitha tried every one of the services prior to bringing them into the clinic. If they did not benefit from the services, they knew their patients would not either. We also use these services at least weekly to ensure that we are taking care of ourselves. If we do not take care of ourselves, how will we care for the patients?

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
We specialize in chiropractic care for pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. We offer therapy services such as dry needling, myofascial release, Kinesio taping, thermostim, electrotherapy, ultrasound, light therapy, and custom orthotics. Dr. Kyle is the only Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner, an advanced certification in extremity adjusting offered by the Council on Extremity Adjusting (CEA).

During this 7-month training program, doctors of chiropractic are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat root causes of recurring pain in the spine AND extremities. Making the CCEP equipped to successfully treat TMJ, Shoulder Girdle Syndromes, Tennis Elbow, Carpal Tunnel, Knee Subluxations, Baker’s Cysts, Sprained Ankles, Shin Splints, Foot and Gait mechanics, misaligned hips, and leg length issues.

The stability of the spine is dependent on the stability of the extremities, and vice versa. As a patient, you can have a perfectly aligned spine and still experience severe discomfort that may result from misalignment in your extremities. Misaligned extremities put additional pressure on the tissues around the joints, causing subluxations (dislocation of a joint). A spinal adjustment will not fix the root cause of the subluxation, which is a misaligned extremity.

Having a properly aligned spine AND extremities puts you on the path to optimum health. Remember, the stability of the spine is dependent on the stability of the extremities, and vice versa.

Dr. Tabitha also found that chiropractic care couples well with IV hydration therapy. IV hydration therapy can assist in treating dehydration, nutritional deficiencies, obesity, compromised immune systems, fatigue, decreased mental alertness/focus athletic performance, inflammation, hair shedding/thinning, skin conditions, brittle bones, fatigued muscles, and low metabolism. IV vitamin therapy offers clients a way to take control of their health proactively by giving them the nutrients they need in a form that’s easy for their body to use. Administering vitamins intravenously is the best way to ensure that your body gets the right doses of vitamins and minerals that promote better health and vitality. We have something for everyone who wants to heal the body naturally.

Our goal here at Trident Health and Chiropractic is to lead Spartanburg County towards optimal health with natural holistic care and we are most proud of the services that we offer Spartanburg.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Combined Dr. Kyle and Tabitha Garbart have over 50 years in the medical field. What bothered them both was that patients’ lifestyles were either not being impacted or being impacted in a negative way. “I was tired of administering medications that were causing the patient to have additional side effects. I knew there had to be another way to get patients the optimal health they desire”, says Tabitha Garbart. That’s why when Kyle decided to leave a great job to return back to school at the age of 42, Tabitha was fully supportive. We saw this as a chance to get to provide care the way we wanted to provide care. We wanted our patients to be part of our family and we wanted them to have the best experience possible.

Our office is not your typical office. We wanted something different. We wanted the office environment to be relaxing. When you walk into the building you will be greeted by a chiropractic assistant who will walk you through the check-in process. When you enter the main treatment floor you will notice the faint scent of aromatherapy that will instantly start to relax you before entering into the therapy room.

Each therapy room is furnished either with an intersegmental traction table or with a Zero Gravity Massage Chair and Himalayan Salt walls to give you a peaceful place to relax and bring calmness to your life and body. Next, you’ll have to consult with Dr. Kyle Garbart, DC, CCEP or Tabitha Garbart, DNP, RN to chat about your health-related problems and concerns, as well as potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed to understand exactly where you are at with your health and provide a roadmap to get you feeling your absolute best.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
After finishing 3.5 years of graduate school, Dr. Kyle was not done with his training. Dr. Kyle is the only Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner in Spartanburg, an advanced certification in extremity adjusting offered by the Council on Extremity Adjusting (CEA). This took him 7 additional months to complete. This training provided him with additional skills that allows him to treat shoulders, tennis elbow, knee Subluxations, sprained ankles, shin splints, foot and gait mechanics, misaligned hips, and leg length issues. Dr. Kyle also completed additional training for certifications in Rock Tape Application, Myofascial Release, and Dry Needling. This are services that everyone can benefit from but he is particularly interested in partnering with athletes. Athletes are hard on their bodies so extra care has to be taken to ensure that they can perform at optimal levels. Dr. Kyle has treated cross country runners, lacrosse players, football players, cross fit competitors and golfers. These same athletes have also received IV hydration sessions from Dr. Tabitha, consisting of vitamins and minerals that are designed to help performance and recovery.
