We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kyra Mitchell Lewis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kyra below.
Hi Kyra, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
When it comes to overcoming life’s difficulties and bouncing back from them, building resilience has been crucial for me. It’s what helps me handle pressure without losing my composure. Resilience is what allows me to maintain a positive outlook and effectively manage stress, whether I’m facing current challenges or preparing for future ones. Here are some strategies that have helped me develop resilience:
- Finding purpose: Discovering my sense of purpose gives meaning to the trials and hardships I face. Instead of getting discouraged by problems, having a defined purpose motivates me to learn from past experiences and persevere.
- Self-belief: Having confidence in my abilities helps me navigate life’s stresses.
- Cultivating positivity: Maintaining an optimistic mindset during uncertain times can be tough, but it plays a major role in my ability to be resilient.
- Setting goals: Crisis situations can feel overwhelming, even insurmountable. However, I approach these challenges realistically by setting achievable goals to tackle them.
- Taking action: I don’t wait for problems to resolve themselves as that only prolongs the crisis. Instead, I take immediate action to address and resolve issues head-on.
- Self-care: Nurturing myself is essential for maintaining resilience. Taking care of my physical, mental, and emotional well-being greatly supports my ability to bounce back from adversity.
By embracing these strategies, I’ve found that I have been able to cultivate resilience and develop the strength I need to navigate life’s challenges with grace and perseverance
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Helping others has always been my passion, especially when it comes to empowering women. I love helping them raise their voices, share their stories, discover their unique gifts, and create fulfilling careers and lives.

We even have an awesome podcast called Glow Up Gyrl that features inspiring guests and provides helpful tips and resources to help women live purpose-filled lives.
To me, it’s all about finding your purpose and embracing it with everything you’ve got. It means choosing yourself even when you doubt if you should. It’s about chasing after that dream that won’t let go of your heart no matter how hard you try to ignore it. And most importantly, it’s about evolving into the best version of yourself every single day – what I like to call YOU-volution!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I truly believe that my ability to adapt to ever-changing environments is one of my most valuable qualities. Additionally, I appreciate the importance of maintaining a sense of humor and not taking myself or the things around me too seriously. Lastly, I take pride in my ability to think ambitiously while also being able to narrow my focus when necessary.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
During times of overwhelm, I find solace in pausing and taking a deep breath. Meditating and praying have both been invaluable practices that I turn to when stress threatens to consume me. After finding my center, I am able to approach my tasks with renewed focus and clarity. It is during this time that I revisit my to-do list, carefully prioritizing what needs to be accomplished for the day ahead.
