Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to La Porsche Jackson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
La Porsche , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I received my confidence from my mom. Out of early age She instilled in me that you should always be confident in yourself, as well as look up when you speak to people. I feel like many of our newer generation is not in touch with the wisdom, along with the old school rearing to develop them into better adults. I also feel like the less a person is worried about what someone else thinks of them the better off they would be. Being as though we are social beings I understand what it means to get praise by your peers However you should always love you first before you can apply that love to those connected to you.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
started my business back in 2018 originally called K&L Creations By La Porsche ( custom lip gloss brand). The brand was inspired after the birth of my second child, I was going through postpartum depression and needed something to lift me up so I decided to feel good about myself by coming up with the custom lip gloss that all women could wear no matter what they look like they should all be able to feel just as beautiful as they are. I started off with just four lip glosses and in 2019 I was able to relaunch my brand adding an additional four lip glosses. My brand promotes confidence, pose , Entrepreneurship , consulting, and Educating the community. My primary background is in education I have a bachelor’s, and psychology an associates and early childhood education, and I am now studying for my masters in curriculum and instruction. I quit my teaching job in May of 2023 to take a leap of faith and open up my own home daycare to service the children in my community. K&L Creations is not just the lip gloss it’s a brand.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The qualities and skills that were most impactful on this journey was the power of marketing and self-promotion. With social media and cell phones it makes it that much more easier for individual to market themselves versus pay someone else to do which you know you can do on your own The next thing that was very much so impactful is having the confidence to turn your idea into a reality. What I’ve learned is that the majority of your supporters will not be your family and friends but it will be individuals who you don’t know that will support you before those who you do know, so keeping in mind that your support may not come from family and friends will keep you grounded and also keep your confidence high. The advice that I would give to someone who was seeking to develop or improve a particular skill is to believe in themselves number one. As long as you have one person who believes in your dream and vision that’s the push and the support that it keep you uplifted so that you can show them what they believe is actually something that could be attained from anyone.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
My number one obstacle would be funding, along with finding the right individuals to facilitate the areas that I need help in. With everything’s price going up it gets extremely expensive and hard when you’re still trying to juggle your own personal, and family life along with any extracurricular activities that you’re doing as well as trying to get your dream or your business off the ground. I eventually would like to relaunch with new glasses and new items along with opening up a facility to where I will be able to help families in my community and not just a few.
