Meet LaDeidra Stokes-Roberts

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to LaDeidra Stokes-Roberts. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi LaDeidra, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

I got my generosity from my parents. I decided to build my own brand when my mother passed away in February 2016. My parents enjoyed helping others in the community, so I wanted to continue their legacy of helping others.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
LaDeidra Stokes-Roberts, an entrepreneur, provisional mental health counselor licensee, and kids’ life coach, was born in Jersey City, NJ, and raised in Estill, South Carolina. She has two children Deyonna Stokes-Roberts and Kaden Roberts. LaDeidra Stokes-Roberts began her educational journey at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC. She has a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling/Marriage and Family Cognate from Liberty University. She also has a Master of Science in Human Services/ Social & Community Services from Capella University. She is currently working towards her Master of Social Work at Capella University. She is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern for the state of Florida. She is the owner/founder of RBS Counseling & Educational Services, LLC. and RBS Consulting & Training Services. LaDeidra and her immediate family members begin brainstorming ideas to help children and families as well as continue the legacy of their mother Richardean B. Stokes. Some of the programs that are provided to give back to the community include back-to-school care events, mental health/wellness forums, reaching beyond self-workshops, teen nights, educational workshops, community basketball events, and other activities.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I want my story to inspire others to understand that you can turn your passion, talents, and interest into a business venture. I want readers to believe in his or her craft. I want people to operate off of their talents and gifts. I think the most successful people became successful not because of their income but because of the talents and gifts they displayed to make an impact in their communities.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I think that it is much better to go all in on our strengths because we can always use this towards our talents and gifts; however, I would always recommend people to invest in the effort to improve in areas that they are not strongly developed in at the moment. I feel we should always turn our challenges into a superpower therefore we will focus a lot more on turning it into a strength! When I first started out in 2019, I struggled with marketing my business so I did not know where to start. I began by becoming more innovative in my craft and putting a spin to my sessions by utilizing creativity with my clientele and I created posts and videos to market them. I was also a very shy person but then I had to utilize networking in order for my business to be well-versed so I started attending networking events, promoting mental health through radio stations and podcasts across the United States, volunteering my time to small businesses, and becoming a speaker at community events.
