We were lucky to catch up with Lakeisha Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lakeisha, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes naturally. I have always been a glass half full type of person. Over the years I have been able to fine tune it and be able to find the positive in almost every challenging situation. Living in a negative space is not conducive to success. We all have setbacks and challenges and it is okay to acknowledge them but we do not have to live in that space. I maintain my optimism because I have learned to trust my intuition which hasn’t failed me yet.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I own a plant shop and I specialize in creating a space where plant moms and dads can learn how to be successful in plant parenthood. I provide all the necessary resource and tools to be able to help a novice to the most experienced plant person on their plant journey.
I get a lot of interests in classes and will be holding my first class at my location on June 24th.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Structure – most of us started businesses while working another job. It is important to properly schedule yourself so that you are not burning yourself out. I learned the hard way that one person can not do everything alone. Blocking out time with specific tasks will allow for productivity and will also make you feel good looking at all the tasks you are knocking out.
2. Allow others a space to help – source out things that others can do. There are people who specialize in websites, or accounting. Let those individuals pick up those tasks to lighten the load on yourself.
3. Patience – when running a business we want everything to go fast and with urgency but in actuality everything takes time and we have to have patience. Every idea seems like a great one but sometimes we need to stick with one and wait for the right time to implement others.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I’m always looking for folks to partner and collab with. I’m open to any creative ideas but recently I have been working a lot with relators and other businesses that need plant gifts – which I love doing because I have creative personality and it allows me to shine.
I’m always open to vending opportunities as well. Lastly, if you are a business and needs some plants in your space to liven up your space please reach out and I’m happy to assist.
