We were lucky to catch up with Lana Conlon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lana, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
We all have been there, where we enter a new unknown territory, and we hear this little voice inside of us saying:”Who do you think you are to even consider doing something like this?” But the same time, another voice , the voice that comes from your past achievements, big or small, from love of people that know and support you, replies back with ” I am certain, what I am going to do will be helpful for others to overcome their struggles and maybe will change their lives. I have to go for it!”The outcome of your actions should have a purpose that is greater than your fears. Let this purpose guide you through all the insecurities and doubts.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the owner of Shine Perfection LLC, an eco-friendly Residential Cleaning Company in Jacksonville, Fl. I have created my business with just one idea, having no prior experience and professional training in this field. So, I know for sure, from my own journey, once you start to believe in yourself, others will start to believe in you!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In my opinion, if you show up for your appointments with clients on time, if you overdeliver on your professional promises and pay full attention to your clients’ needs and expectations, you will always have the demand for your services or products. It’s that simple!
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
In such situations I write all the tasks that are needed to be done on paper. it helps to have a much clear vision and prioritize the tasks. Then I start with the smallest thing I can handle at this moment. The key for me, is to do something about the problem I am facing, not just walk away. Even the smallest step that is taken, can make a difference.
